I am a licensed clinical social worker in the states of California, Maine, South Carolina, and Texas with over 5 years of postgraduate experience in the field, with a MSW from the University of Southern California. Prior to providing care on the Better Help platform, I worked as a psychiatric social worker in the second largest jail in the nation. The work I performed at the jail was largely triage and crises management based. I worked the entire frontline of the pandemic, and am witnessing firsthand the effects this pandemic has had on the public's functioning. As a result, my passion shifted from a highly institutionalized setting to getting back into the community where I started.
My experience in social work predates graduate school as my interest in the human behavioral sciences led me through many majors. During my last year in undergraduate school, I left Criminal Justice studies to graduate with a degree in Sociology from Long Beach State. My transition through various fields of study mirrors my scope of practice today which is varied and wide. My lens of practice during graduate school included a concentration in children, youth, and families, with a sub-concentration in school social work. The various populations I have served during the past 5 years include those without homes, trauma survivors, families, children, single adult women, single adult men, LGBTQ+ youth and adults, along with the incarcerated male population. As a sociologist first and a social worker second, my lens of practice is shaped through years of personal and professional life experience.
My approach to therapy can best be described as within a traditional framework but with an unconventional approach. My style of interaction is tailored to the client meaning I will meet you exactly where you are at. I am a firm believer in the understanding that we are all the experts of our own experiences. As such, my therapy style is client focused with an overarching structure of solution focused therapy, and problem solving therapy. The lens I use within this framework is through that of a trauma informed approach, with a humanistic foundation.
Self-empowerment resides within each of us, and I would be honored to be a part of the journey you seek to establish your best self. I look forward to becoming a part of your life expedition!

Caitlin is incredible as a therapist, as it was my first time working with a therapist I was nervous and unsure what to expect. Having someone who understands complex dynamics and is always kind and thoughtful in her approach to each conversation. So lucky to have found her!

Caitlyn fits with me very well. I’m not sure how BetterHelp does its matching, but it worked on the first attempt for me. Caitlyn is a perfect balance of listening, interpreting, and informing. She is gentle and kind, but also straightforward and direct. She can clearly see connections that I routinely miss, and helps me understand them, and then offers a new way of looking at things in another light. But she keeps these insights to a manageable frequency, so that I am never overwhelmed. She also remembers an amazing depth of detail. I will be discussing a current event in my life and she will effortlessly relate it to something that came up many weeks earlier, and show me the pattern. This makes me feel like she is truly invested in me, which makes working with her so easy and useful. She is a wonderful person and a great therapist.

To say Caitlin is good at what she does, doesn’t even begin to cover the amazing work she is doing here. I can’t express enough how thankful I am for her help throughout my healing journey. She has been with me every step of the way and while it has been far from easy she has remained a consistent and encouraging part of this whole process. Caitlin’s ability to connect and make me feel heard, understood, and safe while working through some of my most difficult times has made such a huge impact on my life and I am so grateful to have connected with her. I highly recommend Caitlin to anyone struggling and looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist.

Her questions open my eyes to the things I am overlooking or misinterpreting. Sometimes its simple things but they help me to conquer, rethink, reevaluate or just understand a little better my emotions. Then I can be in a little more control instead of being controlled by emotions.

I had never done therapy before and heard from friends that it took a while to find someone who resonated with you and could actually be helpful. So I truly lucked out with Caitlin as my first therapist. She is so welcoming, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to. Talking about tough subjects felt safe with her and it has really helped my journey, especially my journey in the LGBT community. I highly recommend Caitlin.
