About me

CaRen Ogle is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia and a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS). She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Ball State University and a Master’s of Art Degree in Counseling Psychology from Clark Atlanta University. Her professional experience consists of providing mental health services for children, pre-adolescents, adolescents, adults, and families. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is to create a warm, cozy, peaceful, and collaborative environment that feels as if you are sitting in your own living room allowing for connection, clarity, and direction towards overcoming seemingly impossible barriers to fulfillment. Having over 30 years of experience helping others I’ve learned the client knows him or herself best and the most efficient way to help is to meet people where they are. Identifying and utilizing strengths as well as exploring qualities either never sought or considered can create the opportunity to live a quality of life you get to design. Together, my adults and I strive to understand how they perceive themselves within the content of their own minds and the context in which their interpersonal relationships are played out to create a healthy view of self and healthier interactions with people, places, things and the world. Common issues that my Adult clients face include excessive worry, crying spells, panic attacks, stress and anxieties, OCD, PTSD, loneliness, depression, emotional and verbal shut downs, perfectionism, work-related issues, difficulties in key relationships, mood fluctuations, codependency, addictions, and overcoming traumatic histories. I frequently use DBT, CBT, Anger Management Techniques/strategies, Motivational, as well as on-going training with Brainspotting and TF-CBT methods to help clients of various ages’ process through a wide range of highly stressful, activating and traumatic experiences that prevent them from fully engaging in aspects of their life.
My area of specialty is in working with children, adolescents, and families who are facing a wide-range of difficulties. Many of the youth I work with demonstrate a great deal of resiliency early in life to overcome struggles related to worry, stress anxieties, depression, self-esteem, life changes and transitions, blended families, divorce, school issues such as under-performance, perfectionism or avoidance, as well as body image, behavioral challenges, and trauma. I believe sensitivity to the needs and experiences of children and adolescents, and the ability to hear them as well as relate, is crucial to this work. I integrate creative play, TF-CBT and art into our work to create an effective and natural means for children to express themselves and the turmoil they may be experiencing in order to find effective resolutions. I work closely with parents as well to also help them learn strategies to best help their child on a daily basis.
Families and I work together to address many family difficulties or transitions such as traumatic family histories, codependency, enabling, divorce, blending a new family, codependency, substance abuse interventionist, educate families/Couples who are dealing with loved ones suffering from mental health distress. I believe in helping to create and support changes within the family system to help the system function more effectively together. My primary goals in family therapy include helping the family unit to gain a greater understanding of the roles, perceptions, and dynamics at play, as well as increasing communication among members, in order to create their desired change.
I have been in private practice within the Midtown area since 2011. I believe it is important to stay connected to the community to provide education regarding mental distress and help individuals to understand that counseling is for the everyday person and it cannot hurt to talk with an objective person who provides a non-judgmental environment to address private thoughts we often don’t share with others. I am a past member of American Counseling Association (2015) as well as the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (2015).

I am available for short and long term counseling and I work nights and weekends to accommodate those with varying or late schedules.

CaRen is very bright and insightful. Our sessions never feel transactional nor do she ever make feel as though I’m just another client on her roster. Everything I’ve shared with CaRen is handled with such care and thoughtfulness. Look forward unpacking all this journey has to offer!

A magician, Ms. CaRen has helped me figure me out in a way I didn't think was possible. Because of her insight and her "pull no punches" approach, she has helped me resolve many of my childhood traumas, learn how to emotionally regulate on my own, and resolve conflict. She is the best in the business, and I would recommend her to ANYONE. A true God-send!

I appreciate CaRen in her efforts to assist me healing and or working toward a goal. She is assisting me in areas that I knew about but did not realize it was hindering me. I am excited that we will be working on goals to change these hindering dynamics. She has also offered other ways to view options. I am greatful we are connected and that she can assist me in making the changes that are necessary.
