Carissa Baker, LMFT
About me
Hi there, my name is Carissa Baker and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California. My goal is to come along side you in a safe, nonjudgmental environment to help you navigate the "white rivers" of life. I consider being a therapist not just a "job" but a true calling and passion of mine in life. It is a great privilege to “sit in the mud” with someone while helping them get “unstuck”. Often times, the bravest step is the first step in seeking outside help. I am a positive thinker and seek to try creative alternatives to help my clients overcome their obstacles. I understand that we all are unique as individuals and thus I believe a therapist needs to keep an open mind with approaches tailored to the unique needs of each client. I bring compassion and hope into my therapy room. I am here to listen and give a safe space for you to process. I won't give you the easy answers and I will help challenge you to grow in your perspective from your circumstances.
I have experience working with teens, individuals, couples/marital, and family dynamics. I am passionate about relationship conflicts and marital dynamics, parenting, infertility, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, self-esteem, and behavioral issues. My experience working in community mental health, residential facilities, schools, and homes has given me a love and passion for wide range of people just trying to do this thing called "life". I also have experience with working with individuals who have special needs or who are on the Autism Spectrum. I am fluent in American Sign Language and love to use my skillset to come along side those in the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
I received my Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010 from Fuller Theological Seminary. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Vanguard University in 2007. If you have any questions for me or about this process feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to working with you!

I’ve been working with Carissa for almost a year now, and I honestly cannot imagine life without her. She has helped me in so many ways. I use her advice and guidance daily, and it has helped me tremendously. Last year, I couldn’t imagine being where I am now. I know I couldn’t have done it without Carissa’s help.
