About me

Thank you for considering me as a guide for the hard time that you’re experiencing. It’s my belief that we’re all on the same human team. Being on a team means that you’re not alone and that help is here if you ask for it. If I’m privileged to be the help you’re seeking, I have a strong clinical skill set to back you up. Often, our difficulties leave us feeling trapped and responding to problems in ways that we regret. My approach helps by first removing that sense of feeling trapped so that we can be freed to make decisions we’re proud of.

I draw on a background in Zen and its Western version, Stoicism, to heavily accent cognitive therapies. Though many therapists claim to be “eclectic” with dozens of specialties and an arrayed bag of tricks to help those they see, they often only go skin deep. With more than 10 years in the mental health field, I specialize in cognitive therapies that explore deep beneath the surface to manifest meaningful, lasting changes.

These approaches are scientific in that they are consistently conducted with the same process every time. Though they can flexibly fit most situations, you won’t have to worry about whether it’s working or not. We’ll define in the first session what success is going to look like for you, when we expect those specific results to appear, and what to do to lock in your results afterward. When we're successful, you won't simply walk away with memories of conversations that might have comforted you once or twice. My hope is that you'll walk away with a legitimate skill - a skill that you'll be able to use independently without further assistance from a therapist.

As a note: I am currently in a transitional phase working on BetterHelp's platform and have consistent hours from 6:30am to 8:00am EST to accommodate work schedules.

Carl is the first therapist that has been helpful to me in years. He actively listens, he has good insights, you don't feel judged by him, and you feel comfortable speaking with him. I highly recommend his therapy!

Carl is very patient and easy to talk to. He listens patiently to my long-winded stories, and is able to understand what I'm trying to convey, which I appreciate very much. I've only had 2 sessions with him so far, but he's been helping me understand why I might be feeling the way I do, and is teaching me some useful tools to cope with those feelings. I always feel much better and reassured after every session, and I look forward to continue working with him.
