My name is Carlos Velazquez. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years experience. The type of therapy I feel is most effective is called Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT). What is CBT? CBT is based on the simple idea that your thoughts and attitude, not external events, create your moods. You will learn to change the way you think, the way you behave, and the way you feel. I do not expect you to change your thoughts and feelings right away. Over time you will begin to learn more about the vital connections between the way you think and the way you feel. By understanding this, it will pave the way towards reaching your goals.
All journeys begin with the first step and you have done that by searching for help. It is often the toughest step to take but it is well worth it. Your health and overall well-being matters. I am confident that things will fall into place and you will make great strides through counseling. Helen Keller once said, " Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence”. The belief that things will turn out well is what motivates effort and encourages us to keep trying. My goal is to help you change the way you look at things, have an attitude of confidence, hopefulness and positive thinking about yourself, others and your future.

I just feel like for once , I’m being listened to . I know I’m difficult and it is a lot. But Mr. Carlos did not run away and I am determined to make the most of his effort to help me .
Carlos is very friendly and helpful when it comes to talking through my emotions and mental health issues. I am enjoying our sessions a lot and look forward to more in the future.
Very helpful. Listens and rationalizes.
