I'm a full-time school counselor with experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in a clinical setting of a major mental health hospital here in the Dallas area. I worked for three years on the addiction unit as well as the geriatric unit while acquiring my internship hours at Timberlawn Mental Health Hospital as a therapist. While working at the mental health hospital, I spent many hours working with patients via group therapy or individual therapy and family counseling. The patients at the hospital where I worked were dealing with addictions, depression, anxiety, family issues, trauma, and various other adjustment issues.
Currently, I have a small private practice where I work with couples/families who are having relationship issues, and I've had clients referred to me from a local court to assist with mediation of family issues and conflicts during divorce. In my private practice, most of the issues center around working on adjustment issues, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety within the family unit.
As a school counselor, I meet with children and adolescence who are having issues in the class as a result of conflicts within the family. I work on parenting issues with their families and guardians, as well.
I became an LPC in 2010, and I've been a school counselor for the past two years though I've spent most of my career in educational systems. I'm a parent of two grown children, and now I'm enjoying my private practice working with individuals and families along with my counseling in the educational realm.
