About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor in Texas with 13 years of experience in providing counseling with adults and couples for a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, and marital concerns. I am a retired police officer and work with first responders dealing with stress and family issues. I am also an ordained Christian pastor and have provided pastoral counseling for over 20 years.
I have a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University – Texarkana in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate of Professional Counseling from Mississippi College. My area of focus in my doctoral program was children’s grief and I have additional training in trauma and Gottman Couples Therapy (Level 2). I am also a mental health provider for two Critical Incident Stress Management teams and a trainer for the Texas Suicide Prevention Ask Program.
I believe achieving success in counseling requires journeying with my clients so I place a strong emphasis on building relationships through nonjudgmental listening. I primarily use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to teach the skills people need to navigate mental and emotional challenges.
