About me

Greetings from Kentucky!
My name is Casey Coursey Castor and I am an LCSW with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training. I have been a therapist for over 8 years, working in inpatient hospital settings, intensive outpatient, and private practice. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work at Western Kentucky University. My experience includes working with individuals experiencing trauma, addiction issues (both behavioral addictions such as sex/gambling and substance), career challenges, and GAD. I have also worked with clients who are struggling to identify happiness and meaning in their world.

I would describe my therapeutic approach as empathetic- there is at times a fear when starting with a new therapist. There is fear of judgement, fear of saying the wrong thing. I want you to know that I am here for all of it- the good, bad, and the ugly. I come from a nonjudgmental response as we trudge the road to Happy Destiny together. With a history of working in addictions, I understand the importance of working with someone who will work towards holding us accountable while holding a place for empathy as well. I have received training over the years that has increased my experiences with using EMDR techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy Models.

My ultimate joy is helping folks overcome barriers that they otherwise thought were unbearable. One of my favorite sayings in regards to therapy is your therapist gets to be the one person in your life who does not have a say-so or opinion on the outcome of what you desire most. Our friends, spouses, family- they at times have a stake on our decisions and wants. As your therapist, my goal would be to get you to where you want, cheering you along as we witness your success, while coming from a place of empathy.

Casey is one of the best and most caring therapists I’ve had. She’s so supportive and kind I can tell she’s genuinely concerned for my well being and the excitement I hear when I tell her I’m doing well gives me the confidence I need. She’s helped me as a therapist and as positive figure in my life. Casey I can’t thank you enough.

I've had other therapists in the past, but Casey filled me with confidence from the outset and has surpassed my hopes in her empathetic but practical approach. I think very highly of Casey after working with her for a couple of months and would recommend her as not only an empathetic person to talk to but also a highly-skilled, solution-oriented therapist that can handle anything you may throw her way.

Casey is absolutely wonderful. She really helped me with my personal relationships, and helped identify some things that I didn't realise were affecting me so much. Since our very first session I have been in a much better place, and couldn't recommend her highly enough!
