I'm Certified in TF-CBT, Mindfulness, Meditation and have extensive training in trauma and Somatic Approaches including Yoga, Nutrition and Integrative Interventions for mental health.

In choosing a therapist, it’s important to gain clarity and understand my schedule and approach to messaging and sessions in this platform.
My general approach:
I prefer to work with people in a way that they feel comfortable and is effective. Some individuals only use this platform to complete their therapy in written form, some people may use live sessions (which include live chat, phone, and video), and some people use a combination of these options. I encourage each individual to decide what works best for them.
There is never a limit to the number or length of messages you can send.
“Short Messages” Defined as messages that may take 15 minutes or less to reply. I will do my best to reply to these messages within 24 hours (not including Saturday and Sunday). Lengthy messages prior to a live session may be addressed in the live session and I will do my best to indicate that.
"Urgent Messages" You can mark messages you send as urgent. I do try to read these messages as soon as possible, but I will not reply outside of business hours (M-F 9-5). These messages will get top priority for replies/follow ups as soon as I check messages on Monday.
Live sessions can be done on a weekly (or less often) basis. These sessions typically last for 50 minutes max. Although not common, some people like short sessions of 15 to 45 minutes and this is totally fine, just let me know. Last minute sessions can sometimes be accommodated, but the platform will not let you schedule a last minute session yourself. If you would like to schedule a last minute session or just want to see if you can move your session time slot a bit, send me a message and I will see if we can arrange something. Even if it shows no availability on your side, there may still be time slots available.
While I wouldn’t want any of my clients to feel pushed out or that I don’t want to work with them, I have been in counseling and sometimes things just don’t click, there doesn’t seem to be rapport, or even there are just scheduling conflicts. For me it is much more important that a client get what they need in therapy then to work with me if I’m not the right fit. I’ve had counselors that have helped me greatly and really changed my life… and I have had counselors that I decide not to work with. This is totally a personal choice with no judgment attached.
If a client would like a different approach there is the possibility that a different therapist may offer a different frequency or variety of communication, although there is not a way to identify these individuals before getting assigned to them. If my availability does not fit your needs, I can reach out to other licensed counselors in the counseling forums with a description of what you are looking for and see if a direct referral can be arranged.
It is also simple to change counselors through your own page. You can change counselors by logging in to your account, clicking on the icon in the top right corner of the counseling page, and choosing “Change Counselor” from the drop-down menu.
