Welcome to the BetterHelp Community! My name is Catherine and I have been working for the past five years as a therapist. I have provided psychotherapy for a wide variety of issues, varying from in home therapy with adolescents and their families to outpatient mental health therapy with adults and providing couples counseling. I have personal experience and have provided assistance and support with blended families and working on improving the dynamics between different parts of the whole family unit.
I would describe my approach as goal oriented and client centered, focusing on where the client is in their process of self examination. My practice usually involves a combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT encourages efforts to change thinking patters and behaviors. Solution Focused Brief Therapy is just as hands on--a practical approach to problem solving that works well with young adults navigating the road ahead and couples maneuvering the challenges of day to day life with exploring the self, patterns and encouraging communication.
The first step is reaching out. I believe that people will get out of therapy what they put into it, and taking the leap to asking for assistance is difficult. I am here to make that transition a little bit easier, and help you in any way I can.
