Cathy Shea

About Me

I have been practicing in a wide range of modalities for 24 years. I have been involved in non-profit organizations, private practice and school settings. My approach is to gain an understanding of what a member wants, and what they have tried. I like to understand their position and reflect different points of view so they can try new and different approaches to their challenge. I like to be a support and help them overcome challenges. I understand that people struggle at times in their lives and need the help of outside perspective to clarify choices.
I specialize in an understanding of marriage and family therapy as well as a developmental perspective. I have helped many people overcome struggles in relationships with partners and parenting. I find people feel warm and comfortable talking to me and appreciate the solution focused approach that I tend to have when counseling people. I have helped many people overcome terrible experiences with sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect.
My specialty has been relationship counseling. I have studied marriage and family therapy and have had the most rewarding experiences helping couples rebuild connections.
I love connecting to people and helping to be a agent of change in people's lives!

Cathy is a great help and meets me where I am at. That is very important for my growth and I appreciate having her expertise to coach me along and provide tools as I tackle my day-to-day stresses.
