Let me introduce myself,
My name is Charles "Chas" Burt. I was in the Army for 4 years a psych tech. I did another 6 years working for DOD as a psych tech. I decided to become an art teacher, and taught for 7 years. I decided to get my masters in counseling, and graduated in 2011. I then worked for a community mental health agency, and worked in schools with children K-12, and also adults in the clinic. I obtained my LPC in 2013. I have worked most of my counseling career in community mental health. I currently work for Gila River Health Care as a counselor in their drug, and alcohol treatment facility for Native Americans. I'm moving to Texas to be near my son, and grandsons. I believe my approach to counseling is eclectic. I believe the biggest part is making a connection with the client. If they feel connected, they are more open with you, and more willing to work on their problems. I tailor the approach to the client. I often use a client centered approach, but also feel we are trained so that we can guide them to where they want to be. The client feeling empowered, and successful is most important to me.
