About me

I’m glad/pleased you have taken the opportunity to check out some of these profiles. I am Rod Lind, Licensed Professional Counselor. I have 25 years of counseling experience working in a variety of settings to include a chemical dependency clinic working with parolees and probationers, co-facilitating a sex offenders group, a university counseling providing mental health and career counseling, working with soldiers and family members both on post and in private practice. I have been offering telemental health counseling for the past 5 years.

In recent years, I have found myself attracted to working with those who have experienced grief, shame, low self-esteem, conflicted relationships, trauma and other anxieties. I have also become well grounded in working with adoptees (I am one) with their unique concerns as well as with the reunion process. I am also open to addressing the needs of birth parents.

I have taken the opportunity to learn a variety of counseling and therapeutic modalities. This gives me the ability to tailor my interventions to my client’s needs. (Just in case you’re interested, these include: psychodynamic and existential perspectives as well as Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Family Systems, Hypnosis and various Energy Psychology modalities.) I do not use modalities I have not used during my personal therapy work. I have learned, both personally and professionally, that the quality of the client-counselor relationship is critical to a positive counseling outcome. This means that you must experience a non-judgmental, emotionally safe and listened-to environment.

I believe that you have the resources within to bring forth the changes you most desire. From my perspective, one does not go into battle to force the wanted changes – one creates the environment to allow change to happen.

I welcome the opportunity to be a part of your journey!

Not every type of therapy works for every type of situation. From experience with different counselors and friends in therapy sometimes you need a counselor who give you a "kick in the pants" or help you confront your dysfunction. Maybe Rod can work with that type of patient too.

For me, Rod is kind and patient, but also holds you accountable for the changes you say you are trying to make. He acts initially as a partner, and then as a coach.

If that's they type of experience suited for you, then I highly recommend Rod.
