About me

Greetings and welcome! My name is Charles (Chuck) Putnam. I am a licensed therapist (LCSW) and have been in private practice for the past twenty plus years. I decided the become a Licensed Therapist after working some years in the financial industry, after my undergraduate degree in Business Administration. After realizing how unfulfilled I was with my only purpose in life being chasing money, I left the business world and obtained a Masters in Social Work in 1995. I became licensed as a private practitioner in 1998. I have been certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and currently nationally certified in Hypnotherapy. I am also the founder and director of a non-profit company that services the disabled and the homeless. I enjoy my work with the non-profit company but would enjoy more working with individuals like you to assist in achieving your goals in life.

I enjoy working and supporting individuals who experience such issues as grief and loss, loss of meaning of life, young adult issues, as well as career and mid-life crises. I am also experienced in assisting those who are experiencing significant depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, as well as geriatric issues. I thoroughly enjoy helping individuals find their purpose in life. My experience has been that when one discovers their life purpose the obstacles presented in life are easier and more rewarding to overcome.

I am a humanistic therapist. My counseling techniques include but are not limited to, Person Centered, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral, Gestalt, and Solution Focused Therapies. I am also an EMDR practitioner. I often use hypnotherapy to uncover the factors that are hidden but influencing our conscious thoughts and emotions. My belief and experience is that success in treatment is when the individual is comfortable, sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the counselor in an environment of non-judgment and unconditional acceptance. I have a strong a spiritual component to my practice but feel comfortable and capable of working with individuals of all religious denominations and religions as well as those with a more secular approach. My practice therapy is that the solution resides within the individual; it is my role to assist the client in discovering it.

I've been working with my therapist for about a year and a half. He's helped me through many hard life discussion and tears, and happy tears too. I would recommend Chuck to anyone, at the drop of a hat!

I was in desperate need of help and guidance. I was beyond nervous because I didn't trust anyone. Then BetterHelp.com led me to "Chuck." He has a listening ear. He's gentle and kind. And Chuck has the wisdom that's helped me find myself again. Now, it's like talking with a friend every session. I'm very grateful for Chuck's place in my life.

Chuck is fantastic. He listens and helps guide you, while letting you think and talk out loud. He truly enjoys what he does and enjoys hearing from his patients. I always enjoy my sessions and input from Chuck. Even when discussing more difficult topics.

Mr. Putnam was very professional, supportive, and read carefully what I shared. He offered some advice and suggestions. He was very easy to talk to.
