Charlotte Whipkey

About Me

I live and am licensed in West Virginia and normally practice a holistic, person centered approach.

Holistic in that we will explore topics such as diet, exercise and self-care, to name a few.

Person centered in that I believe the therapeutic process should give you a greater self-confidence, a stronger sense of identity, strengthen your ability to build healthy interpersonal relationships and the wisdom to make your own decisions. Person-centered therapy was a movement away from the therapist’s traditional role—as an expert and leader—toward a process that allows you to use your own understanding of your experiences as a platform for healing. So, if you are the sort who wishes their own experiences and abilities to be a prominent element in the therapeutic relationship, we should do well.

I work as a guide and one who will, while utilizing a deeply thoughtful process, ask the big questions. I will do my best to facilitate your self-discovery, self-acceptance, and move you toward positive growth. I will give you resources and would ask that you educate yourself. I expect we will have some fun along the way.

Therapeutic interactions are intensive experiences. I will bring my best effort to this interaction and I expect you to to do the same.

I will normally check messages multiple times in my work day, however there will be times that I may not be able to get back to you ask quickly as I'd like. I appreciate your patience and understanding in this.

So, if you are ready, let’s get started. Go to my calendar and set up an appointment. If you do not see a time that is suitable, let me know and I will see what I can do. Appointments after 5:00 PM are the exception so you may wish to consider a different therapist if that is what you need.

Charlotte has does a great job of helping me to organize my thoughts in a more manageable and healthy manner, and has provided a large number of resources for me to review on my own so that even when we’re outside of our sessions, I feel like I’m still making progress toward feeling better and less stressed in my day to day.
