About me

Welcome,
My name is Charrisse and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and an LPC in the state of Virginia. In my experience as a counselor, I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups. It is in my general practice to be guided by ethics, to have an unconditional positive regard for clients and do no harm to the clients that receive clinical services. My approach to counseling is collaborative and strength based. When working with clients to meet their goals it has been my experience that effective therapy occurs when honesty, mutual effort, and teamwork are present. As a provider of counseling services, I‘ve assisted clients who presented an array of issues. In working with clients I have addressed issues such as Depression, ADHD, self esteem, marital and relational issues, stress and anger management, and parenting and communication challenges. In addition, I taught classes at the Community College in the Human Services Technology Program that prepared future helpers. Furthermore, I worked with military members and their families providing supportive counseling through the cycles of Deployment. These experiences have afforded me the opportunity to understand Military culture and address mental health issues such as Post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss. I am experienced in using evidenced based practices that include EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I began working with Charrisse to grieve and to gain self awareness. Charrisse is a fantastic therapist who - as she says - is a personal cheerleader who helps me gain the tools to live a healthier life. I owe the growth I've had all to her, for her constant support and unending wisdom.

Charrisse is a warm, encouraging, and extremely supportive counselor. I enjoy our sessions and walk away with new ways of thinking and tools to practice in my everyday interactions to reach my goals of becoming a better person. She’s been so helpful in such a short period of time; highly recommend.
