About me

I feel very strongly that solid relationships promote personal growth, be it academic, development, or emotional. I work hard to connect with others on a real level and to show the people in both my personal and professional life that I respect and appreciate them. I believe that everyone is capable of taking responsibility for their actions without feeling hopeless. I believe that we are all capable of accepting the so-called negative curveballs life throws at us in order to make room for positive growth. I am inspired by the smallest hints of progress because that is the foundation to how we truly evolve. In life and in work, I seek to shed a little light, and receive light, wherever I go.

In my various roles (partner, therapist, friend, peer) and in all of my relationships, I work to show others that I appreciate their unique “you”s and respect and value our differences. I strive to be forthcoming, honest, and when fitting, playful, in order to maintain and strengthen the bonds I share with the individuals in my life.

I graduated from Fordham in 2014 with a MS Ed in Mental Health Counseling, and have been fortunate to work with and learn from many different types of people. I have worked with individuals (ages 5-23) with learning disorders/ASD/other special needs, and more recently, have been doing family therapy with the at-risk and underserved population. My primary experience lies in executive functioning, career guidance, stress, anxiety, anger management, motivation issues, depression, parenting challenges, and family conflict.

In working with people of all ages and personalities, I have learned time and again that there is no "one size fits all" approach. I tend to be mainly oriented in the realms of client-centered therapy and rational-emotive therapy, but I like to pull from other various approaches (mindfulness, motivational, existential, etc) when warranted. Whatever approach I take, it will be through a strength-based lens. I am naturally curious and I believe learning never stops. I know that sharing your intimate thoughts, feelings, and challenges- with anyone, be they a friend or therapist- is no easy task, so I really admire and respect you for taking action. I will strive to uphold my values of connection, trust, equality, and understanding (among many others!), and provide an open and safe space where you can do the work you've set out to do.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Chavie Lichtenberg. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Chavie connected with me, made me feel at ease, AND completely understood me where others don't - right from our first session. She brings laughter along with plenty of tools, and importantly, she's passionate about what she does and really wants to make a difference.
