Chelsea Decker, LPC
About me
My vast experience working within the Mental Health Community in Non-Profit for over a decade has helped shaped an open, non-biased view of people from all walks of life, especially those exhausted from "the system". I strive to instill a form of hope and restructure a new approach or way of thinking about life and it's difficulties experienced on a day to day basis to help clients achieve their dreams. Amongst my repertoire of tools, I believe a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology and appropriate challenging can assist greatly in the therapeutic process.
I possess a great love for life long education and believe one of my most important assets is Humility and the notion that counseling is not a one way learning process, but a chance for Counselor to learn, as well, from the Counselee.
Stigma and bias are current and often a topic of conversation in my daily discussions of problem solving ways to prevent perpetuation of negative concepts and degredation of people with mental health struggles. We must acknowledge that each person has his or her own mental health struggle at some point during life. What I preach is the ideal to discontinue judging people on their mental health struggles and encourage healthy minded individuals.
