Hi there! My name is Chelsea, and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in the state of Connecticut. Ever since I was a little girl I can remember always wanting to help others. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a loving home with two caring and supportive parents that always encouraged me no matter what. I have always been so thankful for this, and have a passion for giving others the same support and encouragement that I was able to have throughout my life. I got into this field because I wanted to give back!
I once took a college level psychology course in high school and fell in love with it! I can remember being so intrigued with the mind and learning about why people think the way they do. I decided to take this curiosity with me after I completed high school, and pursued a Bachelors degree in in Psychology which I obtained in 2013. During my last year in college I can remember taking an elective course on family systems. This is where my love for Marriage and Family therapy began to grow! I decided to pursue a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and successfully graduated in 2016. I found that this field not only focused on helping individuals, but also focused a lot on an individuals background, they many systems that they are apart of, and the way that these systems can help shape them into the person they are today.
I have about 4 years of experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist; however I have been working in the field of human service field since 2014. My earliest experiences in the field consist of working in group home environments with troubled youth and adolescents ages 14-22. Being able to work in this type of environment taught me patience, and understanding, and I loved being able to connect with the youth that needed the support. Many of the youth in these group homes presented with diagnoses like depression, anxiety, A.D.H.D., and also showed some early signs of certain personality disorders like bipolar and borderline. Many of the youth also experienced traumatic events such as sexual abuse and physical abuse/neglect by their caregivers. My favorite part about being able to work with this age group is that I get to help youth/adolescents/young adults create attainable goals for their future. I also enjoy being able to support and encourage them, and to identify the barriers that may interfere with reaching their goals. It is such a rewarding experience being able to watch the clients I work with make change right before my eyes!
After graduating as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2016, I jumped right into my work. I began working as an in-home clinician for a program called IICAPS(Intensive In-home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services) which allowed me the opportunity to work with youth in crisis ages 4-18 and their families. Many of the clients that I served in this program presented with A.D.H.D., depression, and anxiety. Many of the children also had difficulty managing and expressing their emotions, especially during school, so I spent many of my sessions with these individuals focused on teaching them coping skills, and providing their parents with psychoeducation around their various diagnoses.
I also have experience working with the MDFT model(Multi-dimensional Family Therapy). This model of therapy works with youth ages 9-18 that are currently using substances, have a risk or a history of using substances, or are at risk due to other behaviors such as running away, sex-trafficking, and poor relationships. This model is dedicated to meeting weekly with the youth individually, the parent individually, and then as a family. It is an intensive model where as the clinician I facilitated discussions with the family members in their homes for about 2-3 times a week! I loved this model especially because holding sessions in the home really allowed me the time to connect with my clients, and find out more about the problems that they were having. I believed that it helped create a strong therapeutic relationship between myself and my clients.
In addition to the above experiences mentioned, I have also had the opportunity to work with adults ages 18+ in an outpatient setting, as well as in the communities. The adult population that I served presented with issues like anxiety, depression, substance abuse, homelessness, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I am enjoying my experience with working with the adults, and I hope to continue to gain experience with this population on BetterHelp!
My counseling style can be described as warm, interactive, and innovative! I am friendly, open, and provide a non-judgmental space for the clients I serve. I believe my strongest qualities are patience, empathy, and understanding. I also believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines techniques from models like Strategic, Structural, and Solution Focused therapy, however I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I’ve had two sessions with Chelsea so far, and I’ve really enjoyed our sessions! She has made our video sessions a breeze and has a way of bringing about conversation in such a casual way to make it no pressure whatsoever. She’s also super attentive, and always knows how to put together the slew of thoughts I put out in the open into a perfectly constructed sentence. She’s wonderful! I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a down to earth counselor to talk to.
Chelsea is very sweet and really great at listening. I’m really glad I gave this a chance
I love Chelsea! She’s so kind, caring and listens to everything I have to say and responds so quickly! I have really enjoyed my experience with her.

Chelsea is a wonderful and devoted clinician who has valuable advice and outside insight that really makes a difference in my life. BetterHelp was the best decision I made.
Chelsea has been very helpful with issues I've been having for a long time. In a very short time she made me feel heard, comfortable and gave me coping mechanisms which are very helpful. I really enjoy this platform and being able to discuss things in writing and at my leisure.
