About me

Childhood trauma often times comes with a feeling of deep shame, which turns into a core belief that you are bad, undeserving and unworthy of anything good. Shame comes from an old German word meaning “to cover.” You hide your feelings, keeping them secret. Because—if they really knew who you were, they couldn’t love you. You spend your life trying so hard to cover up the bad so no one will see. In doing this you lose your authenticity, your truth, your dreams. You become someone you are not. You lose your light.

Working through trauma is hard, it takes courage, dedication and patience, but it is worth it. You are worth it.

I will never ask you to do anything you are not ready for. It’s your journey. I will meet you with understanding. I will always be honest with you. I will be here with you, holding the compass and guiding you towards your light.

——a little side note. Therapy Is not all tears, hurt and anger. There’s smiling, jokes and laughter that can have you rolling.

I asked a few of my clients what they get from our sessions. Here is what they said:

“You have given me an outline of how to live my life in a different way.”

“You are my calm in the storm of life.”

“A lot of counselors gave up on me, but you really got to know me. I got to keep my dignity.”

“You are honest and understanding. I feel heard, like I matter here.”

My education, experience and therapeutic approach:

I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Montana. While earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Montana, I served as an intern at a therapeutic treatment center for men in corrections. Each one of these men had a history of childhood trauma. Their stories sparked a fire in me! I continued my career attending Walla Walla University where I received a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Throughout my post-graduate studies, I volunteered as a domestic violence counselor for a local women’s shelter and interned at an intensive therapeutic outpatient treatment center for adolescents. Since graduating I have continued my work with people who have experienced childhood trauma. I have taken over 100 hours of trauma related trainings since receiving my degree.

My approach to counseling integrates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Emotional Freedom Techniques.
