About me

I am currently a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who is licensed in Indiana with over 10 years of experience working as a therapist and medical social worker. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, trauma, and many more. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma and/or emotional abuse. I have found that no human life is untouched by trauma. We are currently in a pandemic around the world, causing much pain and confusion. Trauma is an emotional response to a disturbing or distressing event or series of events. Whether we experienced it directly or witness it from a distance, we've all known trauma in some form or another. As a therapist, I've worked with so many people who have lived through unimaginable pain. But within each of these unthinkable tragedies, I have also heard stories of strength, hope, love, reconnection, and growth. I have faith in the resiliency of the human spirit. I believe that people can endure the unthinkable- and from that pain, they can create something beautiful.

I would describe my approach as goal oriented, and client centered. I use a variety of modalities to treat my clients, including EMDR, CBT and MI. The goals created are to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind difficult situations, and so change the way they feel. This helps people identify faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking and learn better ways of coping with life's full variety of stressors.

Difficult and painful times are part of the human experience. I understand seeking help can be a vulnerable step to take. Exploring the healing process or enriching one’s personal growth, first and foremost, requires establishing a trusting and an emotional supportive relationship. Change is not easy, but it is possible.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Cheri is everything I could of asked for in a therapist! Cheri allowed each session to be whatever I needed it to be, and made me feel heard, understood, & most importantly comfortable! We used EMDR, talk therapy, and she was helpful in encouraging me and holding me accountable to do the necessary healing work. Cannot say enough great things about Cheri ❤️
