About me
Hi, my name is CherylAnn McGovern and I would like to introduce myself to you. I have a BA in Psychology, a Master’s in Social Work and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working with patients for over 10 years. My experience has been focused on working with adults through some of the toughest times in their lives.
Over the last 10 years, I worked as a hospice social worker and later a Bereavement Counselor. I spent a few years with the Veterans Administration working with homeless Veterans, helping them to build a better life for themselves through counseling and learning life skills. Most recently, I worked as an Oncology Social Worker.
Coping with life changes can be difficult, helping you build the skills you need to get through a rough patch, is what I do. I have been able to help my clients learn strategies that help with their anxiety and depression.
Learning new ways to cope and manage what life throws at us is what I would like to help you with. Utilizing Brief Solution Focused therapy, Mind Fullness, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy, to name a few, we can find what works best for you.
I believe in setting goals and helping you to achieve those goals by working together. Homework that enhances what we discussed in our interaction, is a strong reinforcement, helping you to recognize where you're improving and where you are not. I will always let you know if I hear something that creates a barrier to your improvement.
I believe in resilience, hope, and the ability of people to reframe how they see themselves. This reframing is all about looking forward and leaving the baggage behind. How do we do that? Let’s explore it together!
I will be able to check for messages throughout the day, responding that day or the next. I like phone chats, chat rooms, and video sessions when needed. I want our relationship to be productive; based on trust and honesty. We will work as a team, helping you achieve the goal of a more productive and happy life.

Cheryl is an amazing therapist. I feel that I've improved tremendously in the few weeks since I started therapy with her.
She has been an absolutely amazing therapist so far!! So excited to continue working with her!
Strongly felt she was prepared for session. Allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings. Validated what I was saying and feeling. Gave me structured things that I can do to move forward in a more positive way.
