I know this is a big step. Reaching out for help and support. I understand that right now you may be feeling lost, frustrated, angry, depressed or anxious . I understand what you are going through. I have been there. I know what it s like to be scared, worried, alone and overwhelmed. Right now you may not even be able to identify what you are feeling. I understand you may have numerous questions and feel like you don't have any answers to what is happening in your life right now. You are in the right place this is where I come in. I am here to listen to you share your story with me and have you allow me to help you to figure out how to move forward in your life and move forward.
Let me introduce myself. I am Cheryl . I have worked in the substance abuse field for a very long time. I am a licensed alcohol and drug counselor . I received my Certified Clinical Supervisors certificate in 2005. I graduated from Springfield College with my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling . I am a licensed mental health counselor . I work with individuals, couples and families. I meet the client where they are at. I utilize client centered therapy to help the clients identify their strengths by utilizing motivation interview and cognitive behavioral therapy. I work effectively with clients who suffer with symptoms of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD and other mental health issues. I have experience with working with adolescence, adults and the elderly. I help clients see that change is possible. At times life can be difficult, challenging and unpredictable. These factors influence our wellbeing, as well as the way we react to our circumstances. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a client and his or her therapist. As your therapist I will assist you in exploring personal, relational, mental health, drug or alcohol problems or any other issues that might be impacting your life.
My counseling philosophy is that, you are the expert in your own life. You being the expert means, that we will work together to come up with the best skills for you to move from the place you are to the place you want to be. We work together to help you learn skills to navigate from your current situation , to a new place in your life. I use Person-Centered and Strength-Based styles to help each person come up with skills needed to help you in your current situations. My role is to guide and support you in learning and implementing the skills and confidence needed to help you improve your overall life. Together, working as a team, We can come up with the best skills to ensure success. I am down to earth, and I make myself available, so that I can provide a listening ear, relevant feedback and support when needed. I look forward to meeting you and working together to ensure success. I am here to listen to you and support you as you face your current conflict or crisis in your live. Weather it is a search for meaning, help managing your stress, depression, anxiety or difficulty in your relationships, or traumatic events that may have happened. I am here to assist you to find stability and peace of mind.
What makes me different from other counselors?
I will engage with you on a regular consistent basis. This is not just a once a week platform. I check in on you on a daily basis. I am here to support you and be an outlet and advocate for you. This is a judgment free zone. So that you have a space to be yourself and discuss what is happening in your life. my goal is to help build you into the person you want to become. To have you be more resilient so you can be your own advocate. You can leave me a message at any time. I will respond to you as quickly as I can with relevant feedback and skills that you can start to implement immediately. The process is not easy but it is absolutely doable and you will see results. I make it my business to understand your experiences and offer realistic feedback and interventions to help you. I see each of my clients as unique individuals and thus my techniques and strategies are genuine to your specific needs. I am here to assist you to become the best person you can possible be.
My therapeutic style involves helping you to arrive at insight, strategies, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. We don’t just sit and talk. I love to provide you with concrete tools wherever possible and help you to have a plan for the following days before our next session, if that is the pace you would like to move at. Most importantly, we are going to make sure we are making progress on goals that you have for yourself. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, possibly even challenge you if I feel you are unknowingly allowing obstacles to stand in your way.
You may find it helpful to know that I have a lot of experience being the client in a counseling relationship and I was very picky about what I looked for in my therapist/counselor. I am a person who needs to know I can say absolutely anything to my counselor and they won’t think any less of me. I need to feel understood, validated, and (I’ll admit) almost admired in their presence in order to feel that I can say things that I hold back from saying in my ordinary life. If this is the kind of relationship you would like to have with your counselor, too, then I understand you and you’ve come to the right place.
Together, we will address your individual needs and establish goals that promote growth and healing. I will provide a confidential place for disclosure, diagnostic and educational material, a treatment plan, and crisis intervention or referral services as needed. The duration of psychotherapy varies, depending on the client’s history, present circumstances, issues explored during treatment, and the mutually established goals for treatment. You may leave me a message 24-7….I check my messages through the day daily! Also, if you cannot find a time available, let me know! I am flexible and typically have select times in my schedule that aren't visible. Just talk with me and I can assure you that I will schedule a time to meet with you. You may notice that I do not have any time slots available. I put my hours up for the next week on Thursdays. If you can not find a time . I am able to do live text sessions. Before you decide to switch counselors please reach out to me and let me know what specific day and time you are looking for. I can often accommodate .Please reach out to me with a day and time that work for you. Also you can only have one session booked at a time. Also please note that I am on Eastern Standard Time.

I found Cheryl last winter when the pandemic was at it's height and I desperately needed to speak with someone. From the start she has always been so calm, kind, and thoughtful, and would reach out daily to check in and make sure that I was doing ok and offering helpful tips and readings to try. She helped me through some tough things, and if I ever were to reactivate my account she would be the person I would request to see again, hands down. Cheryl has been a great counsellor. I am a senior and this is the first time in my life I have sought counselling so I was nervous and had no idea what to expect. Cheryl made me feel comfortable from day 1 and continues to help me sort through my issues and identify the root of the problem. She is easy to talk to and has always made herself easily available for contact. Cheryl has personally been a big help to me and I am looking forward to continuing with her as I work through issues that have been in my life for many years.

Cheryl has shown patience and kindness when I’ve been negative towards ideas she has given to try and help me on my journey. Took the time to understand my thoughts however jumbled and made herself available when I’ve really struggled. Suffering from ptsd isn’t something I would wish on my worse enemy . It messes with your head and is like riding the worst roller coaster. The tsunami of emotions, triggers and flash back hits sometimes from what I thought was no where Cheryl would grab my swirling thoughts and feelings and help me lay them out in a more manageable way. Exercises/activities I have struggled to do have been respected and I’ve not been made to feel bad for not at least being willing to to try everything. Cheryl totally understands one size shoe doesn’t fit all and is adaptable to my needs. Even when I was giving up hope of ever feeling myself again Cheryl would encourage me however small any step I took was in my head . She would then make me see that any step was better than taking none at all .
Cheryl is great! She shared so many resources with me and helped me use the Betterhelp app’s features to make sure we could talk through certain issues completely. She’s easy to talk to, and offers advice and strategies for moving forward.
Cheryl is the 3rd therapist i have tried speaking with and I finally feel heard, sympathized with, and not harshly judged for getting myself in a hard spot.
This was my first time going to therapy. Cheryl was great at listening, asking the questions that allowed us to dig deeper. She assigns worksheets that complemented with my self awareness. I would seek her for therapy again. Her schedule does tend to book up quickly.
Chery was responsive and provided support quickly and made herself available when I needed her support for a relationship issue related to substance abuse.
She has given me amazing articles to read that has really helped me in my thinking. ( self esteem )

My first appointment with Cheryl was awesome - I have never gone to therapy before, but I really really enjoyed it! To me it was fun/nice to talk about everything that has been bothering me or stressing me out. I will be making more appointments for sure.
Cheryl is great. She gives helpful advice about my issues and ways to cope with them in between sessions. She also sends helpful articles and checks in in between sessions. She always makes herself available on the chat section when needed and is quick to respond. Highly recommend Cheryl!

I’m extremely happy with Cheryl thus far. I feel better about some things and look forward to digging deeper into my issues. I really enjoy my counselling sessions with Cheryl. I find Cheryl highly empathetic, patient and respectful. I don't feel judged when I talk to her. She is a great listener and asks good questions that make me reflect and analize my actions and views. I appreciate Cheryl sharing additional information with me between our sessions and checking in with me. She is a great councillor. I wish I could see Cheryl more than once a week and have longer sessions with her.

I spoke with Cheryl three times and messaged with her frequently over the course of a couple months. This was my first experience with counseling. Cheryl gave me exactly what I needed, pointing me in the right direction and giving me piles of information to chew on and tools to put into practice. She also helped me identify areas of my life that I need to work on that I was not previously aware of, like being able to accept compliments to improve my self-esteem.
