About me

Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Western North Carolina. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in grief/loss and addiction, from the University of Georgia in 2008. I have experience as a therapist in a psychiatric hospital, several outpatient clinics, home health and hospice agencies, and more recently, in private practice in my community. I have extensive experience working with those who are coping with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma/PTSD. Relationship problems and addictive behaviors are also a specialty of mine. And, I am a life coach who enjoys helping others with life transitions.

My treatment approach involves tailoring an individual's needs and goals with evidence-based treatments such as CBT, MI, DBT, Mindfulness techniques, and EMDR. However, the most important aspect of counseling is the building of the therapeutic alliance between the client and the counselor. Being able to create a safe and inviting space for personal work is always the first order of business. It includes offering an open-mind and non-judgmental experience for someone to share their personal story or experiences with me. Being successful in this first step allows me to serve as a conduit to your healing process. In turn, I ask that you come to this space with hope and a sincere desire to improve your life.

In terms of availability, I make every effort to respond to messages daily. I recognize that clients often feel more comfortable in the beginning of therapy with text messaging. However, my preference is to offer scheduled phone and video sessions after our first few contacts. At that time, I also require my own Intake Form and Consents, which I will forward to you if we decide to work together. These documents will need to be returned to me via an encrypted email address that I will provide to you at that point.

I hope that we have an opportunity to work together!
