My clients would describe my style as authentic, compassionate, curious, and directive. As I get to know my clients, I learn their individual strengths and growth areas in order to determine the appropriate pace to suit their needs. It is my goal to create a therapeutic environment that allows you to be yourself while learning how to practice new skills, rediscover lost ones, and connect to something deeper within yourself and with others. I am open to feedback and crave your input on what about our work you feel is working and what isn't.
There will be some homework sometimes. I'm casual - I'll wear flannel & drop curse words. I use a lot of metaphors & TV references. I am a nerd & connect well with other geek-identified people. I believe that fandoms and hobbies can be as much a part of our identity as our careers or relationships (Dungeons & Dragons is one of mine.)
Carve out some time in your week - just for you - to feel validated & heard. Maybe you have clearly-defined goals, maybe you want to learn more about yourself, or maybe you don't want to burden your friends/family with what's rattling around in your head.
If your relationships feel stuck, I will help you identify & change harmful patterns before you feel hopeless. We'll build on your strengths and history. Afraid of replicating your parents' marriage? We'll explore your fears, improve communication, & work toward more effective solutions. Plan to move in together? Get married? Change jobs? Have a baby? I can help you prepare now for the typical (& your unique) stressors that come with those changes instead of feeling blindsided by them & trying to pick up the broken pieces later. I believe that communication, intimacy, & sexual satisfaction can all be strengthened with some intention & time.
