About Me

My counseling experience includes working in the school systems, inpatient addiction/mental health facilities, and private practice. I have been practicing and sharing yoga for a couple years and just love it. I have a very diverse background having worked in Education, Information Technology, Service Industries, Small Business Owner, Corporate Training Services, Consulting, and Counseling.

I grew up in Tulsa, lived in Arizona for seven years and California for a year. I have graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma in Human Relations/Counseling, and from Oklahoma State University in Occupational Education. I am also a graduate of the I AM Yoga School where I earned my Vinyasa Yoga Teacher certification.

I love helping people of all ages, and I love practicing and sharing yoga. I do implement some yoga philosophies into the counseling process, especially those centered around self-acceptance and kindness. My desire is to assist you in reaching your goals, and this can be accomplished by examining and changing thought patterns which are negative and self-defeating; as well as exploring feelings and identifying behaviors that are limiting and/or self-destructive. Oftentimes our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be changed, allowing you to experience greater freedom and inner peace. Through counseling you may also learn how to have healthier and more satisfying relationships and live life in accordance with your beliefs and values.

Success in counseling depends to some degree on your desire for change and on your willingness to be honest with yourself and with me. Awareness of need, willingness to feel and to talk about negative emotions or memories, and curiosity and openness to new directions will all assist you in obtaining maximum benefit from the process.

Limits of Treatment & Code of Ethics

As your counselor, I am unable to prescribe medication. In most cases, I will ask you to engage in frequent communication utilizing the formats within the system. There will be times I will ask you to complete an exercise about a topic we discuss and then we will discuss it in the following days. I believe in more frequent, shorter communications rather than less often longer interactions. However, I am flexible to accommodate whatever style is comfortable for you. If either of us is not satisfied with the progress being made, we will re-evaluate our courses of action and move forward.

Although our sessions are conducted in a friendly way and may be quite personal, our relationship will be maintained on a professional basis. My professional code of ethics does not allow me to attend social gatherings with you, accept gifts, or accept goods or services in lieu of payment. You will be best served if our relationship remains strictly professional and our sessions concentrate exclusively on your concerns.

Confidentiality

The very nature of counseling is based on trust and safety. This is often founded on client/counselor confidentiality; therefore, all information disclosed within the sessions will not be revealed to anyone without written permission except where disclosure is required by law. Disclosure may be required when there is reasonable suspicion that the client is in danger of hurting him/herself or someone else; I become aware of or suspect abuse, neglect, or exploitation to a child, an elder, or an adult with a disability; or if I am ordered by a court or other legal proceedings/statutes which require disclosure as specified under the law.

If I see you public I will protect your confidentiality by not acknowledging or approaching you. You are in control of the counseling relationship; therefore, if you choose to approach or acknowledge me in public that will be left to your discretion. I will not discuss your counseling goals or any therapeutic content in any public place.

Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA), you have certain rights to privacy regarding your protected health information. Your information is kept private and secure. Any questions or concerns regarding your rights, please contact client support.

Contacting Me

If you need to contact me between scheduled appointments, you may call, text or email. I attempt to return each message as soon as possible, however, depending on my schedule, I will definitely contact you within 12 hours during the weekday and 24 hours during the weekend and holidays.
Emergency Procedure

If an emergency situation arises you are advised to call 911, contact your primary physician, and/or proceed to the nearest emergency room or clinic.

Chris has been so friendly and easy to talk to-I thought it was going to be hard for me to open up to a councillor but I have been able to tell Chris anything and probably too much! He’s so u der standing and non judgemental and has helped me to identify and change some behaviours that were essential to helping me feel better about myself and life in general. He always responds and is quite insightful!

I am really enjoying my time working with Chris, he is very attentive and always checks in with me. He is always very quick to respond to my messages and always provides excellent advice. Chris has been incredible so far. I have had terrible experiences in the past with counseling, but with Chris it has been completely different. He listens to my issues and provides amazing tools to help reprogram my brain. He is the counselor I have always needed, but could never find.

I love working with Chris so far. It feels very comfortable talking to him always and I think he could make any person that might be hesitant about counseling feel at ease. Chris has changed my desire to have therapy. The once a week dreaded and uncomfortable in person office visits of my past therapy experiences are now a thing of the past. I get great counseling when I can use it. He also gives practical, usable advice & tips that are easy to fit into my days and that make growth feel accessible.

It’s wonderful to know Chris is there for me as this is all new to me. He responds very quickly and provides the right amount of support. If he hasn’t heard from me in a while he prompts me to see how I am doing. This is very helpful and comforting.

He’s extremely understanding. He truly listens to what you’re telling him and his advice and or help with the situation is sincere and very personal. I’ve never felt this comfortable with a counselor before. And in the short time I have worked with him he has helped me immensely. I would recommend him to anyone who is truly looking for answers and or help with the problems they are facing in life.
