I utilize a strength-based holistic framework treating the whole person. Using a Rogerian approach, I value the client-counselor therapeutic relationship and creating an environment where you will feel comfortable talking and opening up to me. Although I pay attention to your thought process using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I pay more attention to your underlying emotional needs using emotion focused therapy (EFT). I aim for you to feel valued and supported and gain insight as we explore underlying issues to what is an obstacle in your life or why you are the way you are. Sometimes we will need to explore family dynamics, childhood experiences, and the past to some degree. If time is limited, then I can be solution-focused by exploring concerns, identifying problems, creating goals, and finding solutions. I aim to give you what you need to become a resilient, high-functioning, and self-aware person. You are welcome to discuss anything with me, including intimate details of your personal life or casual conversation for companionship and support. Has made me feel very comfortable and really knows what I am dealing with.
I have just had one session with my new councillor and she has been most respectful and has been communicating extensively with me to understand my needs and requirements. She sends me lots of relevant material to review and questions to respond to, as she believes we should make a quantifiable improvement as we work together. What I liked most was her opening statement is that SHE first stated that she would be there for ME, and that she takes her commitment very seriously. I am looking forward to making concrete and quantifiable improvements in my situation, as that is why I joined Better Help.
I have had sessions with Christina for four months now and find her to be not only a supportive counsellor but also an attentive and non-judgmental listener. I feel completely comfortable talking to her about anything and feel like she is always there for me when I need her.
Christina has started off my experience so well. Especially in the awkward getting to know your counselor and vice versa moments, as someone who stresses easily in social interactions she was so kind, patient, and always made sure I knew I could be comfortable. I feel like she understands what I need well, and works and provides me with what I need. Having someone like Christina keeps me motivated for therapy, and that is a hard thing to do for me.
