About me

Hello, I'm Dr. Forzani. I offer straightforward and compassionate services to clients seeking a real, knowledgeable and open therapist. My experience includes over 15 years with adults in crisis and transition, as well as teens and young adults looking to improve their lives. My background and practice focuses on the LGBTQI community, adults facing transition, and adolescent girls seeking to build confidence and positivity. I hold a certificate in cognitive therapy from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and am able to provide as much practical cognitive-behavioral support as you would like. I am also trained and experienced in Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy and can provide individual support in any DBT area you need, such as interpersonal distress and mindfulness exercises to help you reduce irrational reaction or stress in your life.

Another area of particular interest for me is trauma and abuse. I have worked with many women with histories of physical, sexual and emotional abuse as children who are struggling with how it has impacted their lives as adults. I may be able to support you in ways to rebuild your sense of self and recover from the debilitating suffering that abuse victims experience using compassionate listening, as well as cognitive-behavioral exercises to clarify how the abuse has affected your thinking patterns and ways to support your everyday sense of safety and comfort, such as mindfulness exercises and finding what activities you enjoy.

A supportive and explorative space is important when dealing with difficult memories, stressful daily situations or preparing for the future. Our work together will be centered around your needs by combining verbal exploration, practical exercises, and mindfulness. I offer brief sessions focused on a specific issue you would like to overcome, or intensive psychotherapy over a longer period of time.

Please call me with any questions about what it is you want to work on. I am happy to help you determine if I am the right person to support you. Your relationship with your therapist must feel professional and safe, so that what you learn about yourself in therapy can be taken into the context of your daily life. It takes time for difficulty to pass, but my goal is for you to feel understood, hopeful and motivated after each session with me.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Christina Forzani. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Dr. Forzani was the supportive, empathetic, and rational guide I needed during some very rough times when I had virtually no hope that I could continue my sibling relationship. Dr. Forzani provided a calming voice of reason when my mind was running in circles, and offered insights that helped me better understand the "why" underlying people's behaviors. After working with Dr. Forzani for several months, I now have more self-confidence and feel better equipped to navigate a future relationship with my sibling. Dr. Forzani is a highly capable therapist and I'm so grateful for having had the opportunity to work with her.

Dr. Forzani has been a pleasure to work with. There was a time when we had a misunderstanding and she showed me how much she wanted to make sure I felt okay and cleared it up. I would recommend her to anyone I know who needs counseling.
