Aloha! My name is Christina McLemore and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Hawai'i. I grew up on the island of O'ahu where I graduated from UH-Manoa with a B.A in Psychology and Argosy University-Hawaii with an M.A in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Since August 2016, I have been a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) for the Department of Education (DOE). I provide support to eligible students who face challenges such as ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioral disabilities using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. From August 2017-May 2019, I had the honor of being Co-Advisor for a high school Genders and Sexualities Alliance (GSA) Club; a student-initiated, student-led club that met on a weekly basis to discuss issues related to the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Prior to joining the DOE, I dedicated over 4.5 years to working with teen and adult victims/survivors of domestic violence and teen dating violence at a local, private, non-profit agency. I provided advocacy and case management services as well as prevention education through presentations on healthy dating relationships and teen dating violence across our state's schools.
The experience I have gained over the last 9 years, working mainly in the trauma/crisis field have given me a humbling perspective on life's daily and unexpected challenges. I tend to approach life with an open-mind and open-heart, both full of curiosity. I'm a big fan of "putting myself in others' shoes" and trying to see and understand perspectives that may differ from my own. I encourage my clients to try the same. I consider myself to be fairly relaxed yet professional in my approach, with a huge sprinkling of humor when appropriate. It is my hope that I can be a supportive light for you during some of life's darker times and perhaps help to remind you of your own flame of strength and resiliency to keep you going on your journey.

Christina is awesome and very communicative!
I'm happy I was assigned to Christina. I'm not one for sharing emotions or what not but Christina makes it easy. Black and white this is how you feel and that's exactly what I wanted. When I didn't answer because I had anxiety she was understanding and patient.
Christina has been hands down my favorite therapist in my entire life. She is compassionate, passionate, funny, warm, kind, loving, gentle, and an amazing listener and supporter. She has helped me discover self love on a whole new level and I couldn’t be happier to have had her on my team for the 8 months that I lived in Hawaii. Can’t tell anyone how much it hurts my heart that I can’t keep working with her after moving back to the mainland. I miss her a lot. If you’re thinking about working with Christina, don’t think, just go for it. Even just hearing her signature “helllooooooo!!!” every time you get connected for each session will brighten up your day. Thank you for EVERYTHING Christina!
In a short amount of time, Christina has helped me a lot. She has a lot of healthy, positive insight and little coping mechanisms for me every time we speak. She pays attention to every detail of things I say and I really appreciate her time.
Christina is very loving and attentive! There are a couple of reasons that I am not sure yet whether its a total match however I feel it is still too soon to know for sure and for that reason I would prefer not to disclose too much detail, after all we have only had one video session which was really the "get to know you" in a way. After a month I will feel more confident sharing my opinions and experiences. However in general, Christina has done a great job reading what I have to say and responding appropriately. She is also great about checking in if I am inactive for a few days! I am excited to see what we can achieve together!
