Christina Tri

About Me

I am a Master's-level Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois and with five years of experience (four as a licensed clinician and one as an intern). Over that time, I have provided services in community mental health, inpatient drug rehabilitation, and outpatient private practice settings. Many clinicians have a "specialty" area and mine is with chronic health concerns and invisible disabilities - if you were recently diagnosed, have been living with a diagnosis for a long time, or even are a caregiver to someone with a chronic health concern - I think we will be a great match. If you do not have any health concerns, I want you to know we can absolutely work together as I do not exclusively see clients with physical health concerns. Over the years, I have worked with clients who have diverse narratives and presenting concerns, including: addiction/substance abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.

My counseling style is highly collaborative - I want to meet you where you are at in your journey and ensure your goals reflect what you want out of our time together. My goal is to provide you with a supportive, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment in we can work as a team. My approach is tailored to every client - I do not view therapy as "one size fits all" and understand no two clients are the same. Each client deserves a specially tailored and unique approach to counseling that reflects their concerns, wants, needs, and goals. Common techniques I use come from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. One of my overarching goals of therapy is to provide coping skills that are practical and can be used across a variety of concerns.

I believe it is important for a clinician to be transparent with clients and indicate limits of their scope of practice before working together. Therefore, I want you to know up front that I am unable to complete some forms documentation on your behalf (e.g., disability, FMLA/medical leave, or anything pertaining to emotional support animals) as it is outside of my scope of practice.

I am proud of you for taking the first step in having the courage to explore what options for therapy are available to you. If you are ready to take the next step and try counseling, I am here to support you.

I look forward to working with you!

Christina is very supportive and professional. She says that therapy is subjective and everyone is a different case and I found that to be very true. She answers all my concerns and gives me practical and scientifically proven methods to tackle my issues.

Christina answers to me in a timely manner, and seems to really understand my struggle. Reading her words helps me in moments of doubt and anxiety. She suggested different ways of communication, but respected my choice without pushing anything I feel not comfortable with. Really happy and glad with her support
