About Me

My name is Christine Abrams and I am glad you are reaching out through BetterHelp to make a positive change in your life. Therapy can be a great resource and support.
The best therapy happens where there is a high level of trust between you and the counselor, so it's important to find a therapist who will be a good fit for you and the type of concerns you have.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, I have been providing therapy in community mental health centers, agencies, and colleges throughout my career. I have also managed therapy programs and provided supervision for counselors to obtain professional licensure. In over 35 years of providing therapy, I have worked with individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. I have worked with people who come in with concerns like stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, life changes, and parenting issues. Working through those challenges presents great opportunity for personal growth!

The therapy I provide is based in client centered and family systems theories, while integrating other approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. This work is active and individualized. We discuss your concerns, develop priorities, and work together to accomplish your goals. I like to generate lots of options for clients to get the most out of our time together, so we may use books, helpful apps, or creative activities (like art or writing). All these would be specifically chosen for your unique concerns and interests. Since much of my training is in family work, I think about people in the context of their relationships, environment, and culture. I often ask about those topics, looking for the strengths in your life that we can harness and apply to your current concerns.

My job is to come alongside you and listen carefully, help you develop strategies to move forward, and celebrate as you learn every step along the way.

I look forward to talking with you and our therapy time together!

Christine listens to what is said and not said. She helps untangle all the emotions and get to the clarity of the problem, solution and possible changes.
