About me
I have long been interested in providing teletherapy, as it crosses many barriers and allows people to seek out a therapist who, otherwise, may have difficulty finding someone, are turned off to the process of looking or who just may choose not to pursue therapy, after all. You may be worried about being able to connect with someone using technology. I feel confident that my energy, understanding and skill will translate to you.
I work with a wide variety of problems and issues, enjoy being a clinician and working with a variety of people and their concerns. I have primarily worked with adults and adolescents and have focused on individual therapy, couples & group therapy but have also worked with children and the elderly. Special interests that I have experience and ongoing training in, include trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, grieving/loss, LGBT issues, eating disorders and body image issues but have worked other chronic mental health problems such as schizoaffective, and bipolar disorders. However, these might be seen as labels and you may not feel you fit into any one of these.
I have 20 years of experience as a therapist, working privately & for other community mental health organizations where I live. I graduated from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work; I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and use this modality frequently. Other modalities used include Trauma informed, Cognitive Behavioral, and Positive Psychology. Psychodynamic intervention - working toward the development of insight, finding how to focus on the positive and Mindfulness are used through any of the modalities listed, as I feel these work well for clients and the research on Mindfulness explains the incredible benefits that come with its use.
Prior to grad school & becoming a therapist I was a member of the arts community in NYC; as a result, I feel I have a strong sense of empathy and ability to connect with people from all walks of life & differences in experience, gender, age, sexual orientation and life philosophy.
Consider contacting me to see if I may be the right person for you; the therapist-client relationship is the most important factor in determining the outcome of therapy; finding a “good fit” with a therapist is absolutely necessary as feeling comfortable with your therapist is exceedingly important.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Christine Philion-Dufour. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Christine has been very helpful and caring. Is able to be flexible with scheduling and works with my needs
Christine is an excellent therapist and has helped me immensely since 2021. She listens and validates my feelings however, she also offers advice and perspective when necessary. Christine makes me feel heard when I speak to her. She is very accommodating with time and always follows up about meeting again. She encourages me to employ mindfulness when I can, but is supportive regardless. Christine is truly a great therapist and I cannot recommend her enough!
Awesome
Christine is excellent and empathetic, and attentive.
Christine is absolutely wonderful. She helped me fill my toolbox with tools to help my anxiety and depression. She has also taught me a lot about mindfulness, which has been extremely helpful for me in decreasing my depression and anxiety. She is so helpful, respectful, empathic and kind. She always makes me feel heard and knows how to help me feel better.
Christine was really good at listening to my issues with patience and asked thoughtful questions. She gave me great advice, and flexible with scheduling as well. I strongly recommend Christine if you’re considering counseling, especially if you’re a first timer like me!
Christine has helped me on the greatest transformation of my life. She's been attentive, flexible, and validating to my experiences and provided a safe space for me to dive into trauma, create new coping mechanisms, and express my deepest fears and desires. After 9 months of working together, I find greater ease, more joy, and far less anxiety in daily life. I'm so grateful for Christine's insight and kindness.
Christine has been very helpful in identify key areas to work on and making goals as well strategies to reaching them.
Christine was very knowledgable about the issues I presented with. I found her to be kind, supportive and encouraging as she guided me through our sessions.
She was very responsive and offered me many written resources that helped me along the way. I would highly recommend her to people who have a strong desire to look at and change their behavior.
