About me

Hello, thank you for your interest in counseling on the BetterHelp platform. As a Licensed Professional Counselor of over 22 years, I offer individual Counseling, Neuro-Cognitive Therapies, Trauma Work (EMDR, Body-Centered Integrative Therapies) as well as guide evidence based Contemplative Practices including Meditation, Energy-Body Healing, Qigong, Mindfulness Practices and a multitude of Breathing Exercises. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, transpersonal and holistic. I feel grateful to provide services to a diverse population online during this global pandemic. I hope to support you through your current challenges to the success and fulfillment you are seeking in life.

If you are interested in counseling, you are welcome to jump right in and start sharing your personal situation and concerns. Talking things through with a compassionate listener provides much needed support. Being seen, heard and acknowledged for what you are going through informs self-reflection and clarity. This may lead you to make choices and take actions that change your life circumstances. As you explore your process, I will listen carefully and offer some tools and guided practices to help build skills and broader perspectives. I am very enthusiastic about my work and glad to answer your questions about counseling, my approach and techniques. Ultimately, you are in charge of the direction and focus of therapy. I welcome open communication and personal disclosure. In the initial phase of counseling, "Reflective Listening" and "Motivational Interviewing" may be helpful as you identify what you want and need from counseling and life. I encourage you to commit to your process as you develop inner resources and build the momentum to go deeper. If you are interested, I'll introduce and guide body-centered "Focusing", "Creating Space", and Breathing exercises for immediate results that help to open and relax your body and mind.

When we are facing challenges, both internal and external, we experience our own vulnerability, navigating unfamiliar territory and relationship dynamics. We may not know where the journey is leading. We may resist change and push hard against it. Our defenses can be activated and our nervous systems can go into overdrive or melt down. This is when we are most sensitive to patterns of past conditioning, self-defeating thought patterns, negative emotions, old habits, toxic relationships, compromising situations, etc. It's important to know that the survival reflex is trying to help support and protect you so that you can rise to meet the demands of your circumstances. We honor this process of recognizing and releasing the chronic defenses of stress. We allow these to show up, and we meet these with self-compassion and kindness. We bring in tools that soften our reactivity and need for defensiveness. We get to know ourselves better, and feel more comfortable in our own skin, as we open to healthier ways of being in life and relationships. I provide effective, easy- to- learn tools to support your nervous system in greater Balance, "Resilience" and "Flexibility".

If you have experienced past trauma, counseling can present the opportunity to explore ways to integrate and resolve negative experiences of the past. It can definitely help to see the landmarks and to achieve milestones along the path. My work involves supporting you to meet yourself and your experiences as fully as possible, with presence and self understanding. Aligning heart-mind and action as a deeper process unfolds that will lead to healing and lasting transformation. I encourage you to stay with it. I want you to benefit from this time together and to gain greater confidence with new tools you can use throughout life. You can observe for yourself the natural progression to a renewed sense of Self, trust in life again and the freedom to express yourself in more whole, healthy and creative ways. It is possible for wisdom and empowerment to arise from the depths of our human struggles. And it is very normal for resistances to show up. Let's talk about this process and how I can help support you.

If you are experiencing grief and loss, I offer a safe, caring and respectful environment to explore your inner experience. Psychotherapy is an opportunity to become more aware of all levels of being; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual awareness, and to discover how all of these levels work together. I can help you find your way through. I offer a compassionate heart, good listening skills and simple, straight forward and clear, therapeutic ideas to support your health and wellbeing. You will always have choices to explore and are invited to share your deepest convictions and truest sense of Self.

Often in counseling you are able to identify root issues and shift conditioned, self limiting patterns, even integrate neuro networks of past trauma. You may also come to greater awareness and acceptance of loss and also heal resentments and embrace forgiveness of self and others. As you apply new skills in your daily life and activities you gain a true sense of inner strength, inner authority and self confidence. New opportunities show up for you and relationships blossom because you have made the commitment to stay with your process as you move forward. You become more empowered to speak your truth and make choices that are right for you. My wish for you is that you experience a renewed sense of hope, inspiration and the self empowerment to pursue your dreams and goals. You may even fall in love again, with yourself, with others, with life.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have devoted over 30 years to personal and professional studies, experience and training in the fields of Psychology, Healing and Wellness. While at University I worked inpatient and residential mental health settings with teens, adults and elderly populations. I achieved Master of Psychology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in the School of Biomedical Sciences. Clinical expertise include: client-centered process, body-centered therapies, neuro-integrative therapies with adult and childhood trauma work, psychiatric rehabilitation, cognitive behavioral and behavioral approaches.

My love for the Rocky Mountains lead me to Colorado in 1992, where I pursued work studies with Charles Bebeau, Ph.D, Founding Director, School of Transpersonal Psychology and achieved a certificate of graduate level training in 1996. Transpersonal theory provided a rich foundation to offer the therapeutic support to follow, amplify and guide clients' deep transformational experiences. During these years, my work also involved independent contracting with Psychologists and Neuropsychologists on the front range and establishing a private practice in psychotherapy and EEG neurofeedback seeing patients with Traumatic Brain Injury, Psychological Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Grief & Loss and mixed diagnoses.

Please schedule a session. I would be honored to work with you on your journey of lasting transformation.
