About Me

Hello and Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado with 10+ years of counseling and mindset coaching experience. My practice focuses on helping clients overcome challenges with trauma, substance abuse, and difficulties managing emotions. I also help them develop a growth mindset that enables them to succeed in achieving their life and career goals. In our sessions together we will focus on self exploration, and developing skills that will help you better understand and manage your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this process of exploration and skills development you will regain a sense of purpose and control over your life.

Using evidence based treatments I help my clients regain a sense of power and control over their lives. Some of the specific concerns I have helped with are PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance and alcohol abuse, navigating life transitions, resolving grief, improving relationships, developing emotional skills, and overcoming career challenges. My approach to therapy is an integration of cognitive-behavioral and humanistic theories. Drawing on these approaches I seek to understand my client's strengths and challenges, and help them explore the relationships between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I often work from a cognitive constructivist perspective, helping my clients identify and understand how the meaning he or she assigns to events shapes the way they experience their world.

Within this integrated framework I often apply elements of traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as mindfulness based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to stimulate self-reflection, foster confidence and hope, and encourage values and goals oriented action to facilitate change. I often integrate Motivational Interviewing (MI), particularly with ACT, as I believe that when values and motivation are fused they become powerful forces for positive change.

As an MBA holder and former business executive I have also helped those who seek to learn "soft skills" and develop the growth mindset that are necessary for career success. I have a great deal of experience working with Veterans, and am a Veteran myself.

I firmly believe that we all have the ability to create meaningful, happy lives for ourselves, even in the face of adversity. The quality of our experiences is determined by the meaning we give to them. Our time together will be aimed at fostering insights into your inner world - your beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and impulses - to help you redefine your outlook and create the life you want. This is sometimes hard work, and I have seen people make incredible changes. You can too!

Chris is both empathetic and practical. He has provided me with a number of different strategies that I have found helpful in deepening the relationships in my life and gaining understanding into my own needs and how to express them. I highly recommend him.

Receptive to my concerns and more than willing to help address and correct cognitive distortions I have manifested.

Christopher has been extremely helpful and supportive, even when listening to what I sometimes consider silly drama. He has never made me feel that my concerns are small and always challenges me to think more abstractly.

Chris has been very flexible with my schedule and needs. He listens to me on opinions of what works for me. He provides me with activities I can do between sessions. He is very responsive to my messages between sessions. I can tell that he pays attention and genuinely cares about my mental health. This program has allowed me to get back into therapy, even though my schedule is hectic.
