About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, licensed in North Carolina with over 11 years of counseling experience. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic violence, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress. As a retired U.S. Navy veteran I feel that my specialty is working with the military population, however I also have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, teens, and adults in an in-home setting for a community mental health agency and also in a government agency setting. I have also worked with clients who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is a client centered approach utilizing techniques such as cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek counseling for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. Chris is the only therapist I’ve ever worked with that helps me refocus and stay on track with my issues. He genuinely cares and has helped me learn to relax when things are going good. He has given me great perspective on dealing with stress and anxiety.

There needs to be a better intermediate option of 2 video visits per month for maintenance as opposed to the 1 per month. I feel like I found better help when I was In a personal crisis and Chris really helped me to under my priorities, help instill better self confidence and remember the abilities I already possessed. Once I started to exit my crisis mode I still felt like I needed some direction but not on a weekly basis. It didn’t feel like your app offered enough flexibility for my own needs, there must be a better way to navigate all of that.

I actually just recommend a friend of my daughter's in Florida Today. I hope he can get the same quality of therapy as I do.

Chris has been very helpful. I feel respected and cared about and Chris has a lot of experience with issues that I have been dealing with. It’s nice to have someone to talk with when things have been so rough.
