My name is Christopher Witman, LCPC. I have 9 years of experience as a practicing therapist and 20 years of experience in the human service field. I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Saint Joseph's University in 1997 and my Masters of Arts degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University in 2009. Since becoming a licensed counselor, I have worked primarily in community mental health in Baltimore City providing therapeutic services to the city's most vulnerable populations. I have also served as a therapist at an LGBTQ-centered health clinic, an inpatient psychiatric facility, as well as a substance abuse treatment center.
As a therapist, my approach mirrors my belief about people in general; No two people are the same, but all people deserve the same respect and empathy.
How a therapist treats a patient should be fluid and accommodating to you as an individual. No single theoretical approach is effective for every patient, so I tailor my strategies to suit your unique personality, values and experiences.
Regardless of the patient's issues or personality, I maintain a therapeutic environment rooted firmly in empathy and safety. Therapy is only effective if trust is established between therapist and patient. Trust is only exists in a relationship where the patient feels safe, secure, heard, understood, respected and validated.
Therapy is your time for you. You use it as you see fit.
You are in control. We can talk about the weather for ten minutes or delve into deep-seeded childhood trauma for hours. It's all up to you and where you want to go.
There are no wrong answers, no judgement and no problem or issue is insignificant. All issues and problems are treated with reverence.
I have thousands of hours of experience providing therapy and have treated hundreds of patients, but I haven't heard it all because I have yet to hear from you. But if you give me a chance to listen and learn who you are and why you hurt, together we can help you heal.
I'm looking forward to working with you!

Christopher is amazing. I had initially spent a few weeks trying to find someone on BetterHelp that could really help me better understand myself and why I do things that make me feel bad on a regular basis. I'm not good with words when it comes to difficult topics, but what I can say is that you should most definitely build a long-term relationship with him. Don't stop on the first two sessions because you would lose out on a lot of incredible insight that can only come from someone who's been able to dive in. This is super important to me. I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't wholeheartedly trust him, so go ahead and book a session with him! I'll be back soon as well. Thanks.
He is very friendly. He will actually grasp the root cause of problems and will treat accordingly.
Even after a few weeks of speaking with Christopher, I have gained so much knowledge about myself and how to deal with my stress and anxiety issues. I will use all the tips and pointers I have learned from him in my everyday life, as they’ve helped me so much over such a short amount of time. I really recommend Christopher because he is very attentive, knows the right questions to ask and is extremely supportive throughout the process. Thank you so much!
I'm very happy to have been so lucky to be matched with such a great counselor. Christopher was patient and calm with me, honest, insightful, knowledgeable, and a really good guide in conversations. I feel our talks truly helped me view my life and problems from a different angle that has changed the way I feel about them. I leave our last session feeling like I've really made progress.
Hi everyone, it is not easy to decide you can't deal with problems by yourself. I've been postponing it for a long time because I was scared of talking to someone that could be judgmental and make me feel even worst. However, Christopher have been reading all my problems and giving some professional inside without making me feel dumb or inadequate. I still have a long way to go but I do get calmer after our sessions, and right now that's what I need. I can also see after our conversations that there's always another side to it that I might have not been seeing in first place. Highly recommend him. Thanks Chris!
I am very satisfied, and impressed! So many counselors mean well but haven't reached Christopher's level of presence and clarity: they'll delay and make you go through tedious preambles that waste precious time, just because they're not sure what to do to help you. Christopher immediately dove in, confident that he has both the personal (self-esteem, calm, clear thinking, empathy) and professional skills (proficiency with multiple therapy modalities) to help you identify and resolve what you've been struggling with. I heartily recommend him!
