Hi, I'm Claire Miner. I obtained a PhD in Counselor Education from UNC-G in 1992, and have been in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, Texas since 1996. I am also licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I work with individuals with mental health, relationship, and career issues, as well as couples for relationship counseling. I have taught graduate courses in the Austin area, and have conducted seminars and workshops in the local community.
In 2008, I received my certification in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, a model based on John Gottman's research on over 3,000 couples. He has been able to identify the factors that predict long-term relationship satisfaction. Gottman therapy first assesses and then targets interventions for helping you and your partner become "masters of marriage." Couples that commit to the process can develop more positivity between them, more positivity during conflict, and a feeling of partnership to achieve their individual and shared goals. If you are single or your partner refuses to go to therapy, this approach can help you learn how to influence your partner in ways that will improve the relationship.
Clients describe me as compassionate, patient, kind, competent, and professional, and my counseling sessions as practical and focused. I will first try to understand your concerns, then we will develop strategies together to help you meet your goals. I am here to listen to you; the session time is yours and I want you to get out of it what you need.
On a personal note, I have two grown children and a grandson - and two fur babies (dogs) that I spoil! My practice hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (start times). If you need to talk on the weekend, I can do that, too. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Extremely attentive and easy to talk to about anything
Dr. Miner is well experienced and offers grounded and sound support. I am grateful.
Dr. Miner truly listens to me and helps guide me through my feelings. I thankfully have support outside of counseling but Claire helps guide me to a better more wholesome self. Her goal is always to make sure that I feel supported and true to myself. This was the best decision I could have made for myself.
I found Dr Miner easy to talk with, and she helped me accept as normal the anxiety I was feeling.
