The best compliment I ever received was that I’m “the human embodiment of a cup of tea,” and I bring that same warmth, compassion, and calm to every counseling relationship.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois with over nine years’ experience counseling adults, couples, and teenagers. My specialties include working with people experiencing alcohol or drug problems, relationship struggles, career and identity issues, and family and relationship conflict. I have special competence in working with immigrants and refugees, people who practice minority religions, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. I've worked in outpatient private practice, inpatient substance abuse facilities ("rehabs"), and residential youth centers.
When you work with me, you control the counseling relationship. I’m here to help you make your life into the best it can be, according to what’s important to you. I tend to use existential, cognitive, and mindfulness-based counseling approaches, as well as solution-focused work that will help you feel better soon.
I look forward to working with you! (Please note, I work Monday through Friday and do not generally offer evening or weekend appointment times).

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Colleen Aziz. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Going to therapy is hard enough finding someone you click with is also hard but WORTH it. I will sing Colleen's praise from the rooftops. I've been in therapy over 26 years and have gone through a few over the years. I never thought online therapy would be for me or that I'd find someone I clicked with. I'm so thankful Better Help pointed me in her direction.
She's literally the best therapist I've ever had. I've made so much progress in the last 2 years and it's so much due to her help and guidance
My time working with Colleen has truly been life changing in the best ways. She challenges me to do what’s best for me at the right time and in the most supportive ways. I’ve worked with therapists in the past and none have been as insightful, attentive, kind and practical as she is. I would highly recommend working with her if you have the privilege to do so.
Colleen is always professional, insightful and punctual which has made it easy to trust her with my most vulnerable thoughts and feelings. Thank you Colleen! You’re the best!
Colleen is very supportive and keeps the main goal clear every time. Always keeping me focused on the right things.
Colleen’s clear and objective approach to therapy is incredibly refreshing and sets her apart from most other therapists. She is a good communicator and listens carefully to what you are experiencing, and replies with thoughtful and constructive responses that really make you feel like you are genuinely being heard. For those who are tired of receiving empty platitudes and feel like they are being deprived of truly in-depth conversations, Colleen is an excellent person to work with.
She’s great, understanding, and works around my schedule
She is a great therapist. Feel very grateful.
Love her treatment!
Colleen has been amazing. I had such a hard time understanding what I was feeling and why. Colleen helped introduce a lot of new perspectives and ways for me to think about things. I trust Colleen and she’s never come off as judge mental at all and I feel comfortable sharing with her. I’m grateful for Colleen and what she has been able to provide.
She has been the first to actually take the time to listen and give me helpful suggestions and advice in dealing with my trauma.
Colleen has been wonderful to work with! She is my first experience with a counselor and brought so much ease when she was easy to communicate with and puts time into her responses to me. She really understands what my concerns are and listens to me.
Working with Colleen has been enormously beneficial. She has helped me navigate challenges with substance abuse, intimate and family relationships, and the way I view the world. I recommend BetterHelp (or therapy more generally) to anyone who will listen, largely because my experience with Colleen has been so constructive. She is patient, listens intently without judgement, knows her craft well, and she observes patterns in my own thinking that I have not noticed, empowering me to change aspects that I want to change.
Colleen was a huge help to me in sorting out my feelings in a relationship and thinking about positive action steps to take. Our sessions together helped me put things in perspective. Colleen was accessible and a good listener. She also provided useful exercises and things to work on in between sessions. I would highly recommend Colleen.
Colleen is a wonderful counselor! She is very understanding and offers helpful insight and advice. She checked-in on me regularly and never missed a scheduled appointment. I would highly recommend her.
Colleen is a wonderful therapist. She gives positive support, great advice, and structured techniques for issues I want to work on. Would definitely recommend!
Colleen has been nothing short of amazing from day one. She is always responsive and she responds with so much kindness and support. I feel very comfortable talking to her about difficult topics and she is always understanding and compassionate.
Colleen has been very helpful to me. She provides strategies to help with situations I am going through and I find that super valuable. She is a great therapist that I would highly recommend!
Collen has been a great help for me so far, I'm lucky I got paired with her!
Colleen is very personable and kind. I'm amazed at her memory and ability to recall the little things. She helps get to the bottom of my problems and issues and helps me see things in a clearer light. This has helped me be more aware of my core issues and has improved my anxiety. She provides collaborative counseling and I'm amazed at what I can get accomplished in half an hour!
Colleen has done a great job understanding my concerns and trying to provide answers to solve problems in the most productive way. I also greatly appreciate her honest perspective, whether it's bringing me back to reality or agreeing with my perspective. I feel like she is a good sounding board. I also appreciate her checking in with me even if it has been a couple days since I have reached out. Definitely recommend her and BetterHelp to others.
Colleen continues to challenge my emotional growth but in a supportive fashion.
I have seen my share of counselors over the years, over time, for various life reasons. Colleen is absolutely one of the best. (I'd say she was the best but I don't want to have to start competing more for her time than I already do-- lol but true)
Colleen is so easy to work with and she actually LISTENS when you speak. So many people are wrapped up in giving the advice that they just don't hear what the person is really saying. Colleen helped me thru some very hard times and I truly enjoy talking to her.
I'm really enjoying working with Colleen. This is my first experience with therapy and I fully expected to be told what to do and how I should be processing or handling things. Instead I'm feeling like a boat in the water, being gently guided and supported on my journey. She's responsive and encouraging and seems to ask all the right questions. Highly recommend her!
