About me

The best compliment I ever received was that I’m “the human embodiment of a cup of tea,” and I bring that same warmth, compassion, and calm to every counseling relationship.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois with over nine years’ experience counseling adults, couples, and teenagers. My specialties include working with people experiencing alcohol or drug problems, relationship struggles, career and identity issues, and family and relationship conflict. I have special competence in working with immigrants and refugees, people who practice minority religions, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. I've worked in outpatient private practice, inpatient substance abuse facilities ("rehabs"), and residential youth centers.

When you work with me, you control the counseling relationship. I’m here to help you make your life into the best it can be, according to what’s important to you. I tend to use existential, cognitive, and mindfulness-based counseling approaches, as well as solution-focused work that will help you feel better soon.

I look forward to working with you! (Please note, I work Monday through Friday and do not generally offer evening or weekend appointment times).

Going to therapy is hard enough finding someone you click with is also hard but WORTH it. I will sing Colleen's praise from the rooftops. I've been in therapy over 26 years and have gone through a few over the years. I never thought online therapy would be for me or that I'd find someone I clicked with. I'm so thankful Better Help pointed me in her direction.

She's literally the best therapist I've ever had. I've made so much progress in the last 2 years and it's so much due to her help and guidance

My time working with Colleen has truly been life changing in the best ways. She challenges me to do what’s best for me at the right time and in the most supportive ways. I’ve worked with therapists in the past and none have been as insightful, attentive, kind and practical as she is. I would highly recommend working with her if you have the privilege to do so.

Colleen’s clear and objective approach to therapy is incredibly refreshing and sets her apart from most other therapists. She is a good communicator and listens carefully to what you are experiencing, and replies with thoughtful and constructive responses that really make you feel like you are genuinely being heard. For those who are tired of receiving empty platitudes and feel like they are being deprived of truly in-depth conversations, Colleen is an excellent person to work with.
