Hi, my name is Cordelia Grimes. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois with over eight years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families in various settings. In my current position, I provide individual and group counseling to young adults and adults in a highly regarded Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program. Previously, I have worked in community mental health and corporate settings.
I am well versed in several counseling techniques and have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed practices. I have a lot of experience helping people identify thoughts, actions, and emotions that are getting in the way of their goals and and then teaching them new coping skills that can help address those barriers, practice distress tolerance, and improve interpersonal relationships. I have been told that clients appreciate my calm and compassionate demeanor and my ability to authentically develop rapport. I enjoy helping clients reach goals as they learn new behaviors and develop a more meaningful lifestyle.
In terms of my education, I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and my Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Human Services from DePaul University.
