My name is Corrina Cortez and I’m an LPC and LCDC- intern in Texas. I am a graduate of Our Lady of The Lake University and became fully licensed in 2020. I have six years of experience working with individuals who have persistent mental illness and substance abuse issues in an outpatient setting. I also have experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence. As a therapist my theoretical orientation is solution focused, person centered, humanistic, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. The therapy experience is not a one size fits all and as your counselor I will tailor the theoretical orientation to best fit your needs. My work focus is on individuals who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, symptoms of depression, increased stress, relationship issues, addiction, self-esteem and issues where you may feel stuck. I am also an ally for the LGBTQ I community.
I am an instructor for Youth Mental Health first aid, Adult Mental health first aid, and am an aSK trainer for suicide prevention and awareness.
Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable is a difficult task. As a therapist my approach is non-judgmental, culturally competent, safe, supportive, and guiding to make the therapy experience a safe space to be vulnerable. Therapy is a collaborative and person centered which focuses on your goals. My hope is that therapy will be a safe space for individuals to grow to become the best version of themselves.
I look forward to working with you!
