About me

My name is Courtney Baron and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut in 2013. I completed my practicum at Yale’s Medical Research Unit where I was a therapist within several studies involving those who suffer from chronic pain and addiction. I then went on to work with adults struggling with addiction in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP) in Connecticut before moving back to Georgia. Since I have been practicing in Georgia, I have provided individual and group therapy to a wide range of clients from various ages and backgrounds. I have advanced training to work with adults including, but not limited to, those who are struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety, transitional life phases, relationship issues, mood disorders, trauma, communications issues, daily stresses, work/life balance, chronic pain, addiction, and relapse prevention.

As your counselor, my role is to help provide insight and the tools you need to feel empowered to cultivate lasting change in your life. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative & relational process to cultivate self-love, self-discovery, healing, & growth in a confidential and supportive environment . You can expect to be heard. We will work together on building a treatment plan that will address your needs. My therapeutic style is direct yet compassionate & nonjudgmental to help create a safe space where change can occur. I use an integrative approach to work with clients. I use a combination of person-centered, strength-based, and evidence-based interventions. Some of my therapeutic techniques draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal/Relational Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other clinical frameworks. I also like to integrate psychodynamic and body-based techniques when working with trauma, addiction, and mood disorders to recognize both the physiological and psychological impacts on those who have experienced these issues. Much of my experience has been helping people find balance in their lives and to re-focus their energies on values that are important to them to foster healthy changes.

I look forward to meeting with you!

Please note, as of right now, I AM ONLY AVAILABLE FOR MESSAGING AND ALSO 30 MIN OF "LIVE MESSAGING" A WEEK. I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR LIVE VIDEO SESSIONS OR LIVE PHONE SESSIONS. You can make appointments for the live messaging sessions through me if you would like. What you may be looking for on here may vary and I am sorry if you are currently looking for the option of live video or phone sessions. I will also completely understand if I do not meet your needs and can help you transfer to another therapist. Due to this, I will be checking my messages more often throughout the day in order to have more communication and meet your needs. Messaging still allows therapy to occur as there are worksheets, journal entries, recordings, etc in order for us to communicate and make progress. I also like to do send out tips or various coping mechanisms for you to practice.

I wish I had enough words to say how amazing she is as a therapist and human being. I have only worked with her now for a few weeks but have noticed a massive difference in my ability to process what I am working through and feel engaged when communicating. Her energy makes me feel heard and valued. Her kindness and empathy gives me motivation to keep going. And after every phone call I always feel I am in a better place.

Courtney has been very helpful so far. It's early in my counseling process but I feel confident Courtney will help me deal with my concern. I highly recommend Courtney Baron as a counselor.

I have been working with Courtney for a couple of months now and I am already seeing a difference in my life! Little by little she is helping me work through so much and guiding me along the way. I appreciate how she encourages me to take my time sharing information as to not send me into panic. She is very attentive to my reactions and helps me get through them, while also reminding me that therapy is a process and not everything has to be dissected in every appointment, especially if I’m not ready (she also helps me get in tune with my body so I can listen and see what would really help me in the moment). I can’t wait to see how I’m doing 6+ months from now - I can’t recommend Courtney enough!

Courtney is a caring person and a good therapist because of it. She takes her time and is cautious when dealing with trauma to try to help process it easier. She has helped me discover and put into words a few problem that I didn't fully know I had. I am making good progress mainly due to her help.
