About me

My goal as a therapist is to help clients navigate through some of the darker, more difficult times we experience as humans. I help provide clarity on murky situations and provide a non-biased sounding board to clients who are struggling. A lot of my techniques and tools as a therapist come from a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) framework and solution-focused. I utilize a narrative approach, which is the belief that people are the own authors and experts of their lives.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I completed my Master's in Counseling in 2011 through University of Phoenix and have a Bachelor's in Psychology from University of Oklahoma. I have worked primarily in addiction settings, including residential and outpatient clinics and worked with adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse. In these programs, I have been the clinician to help address the mental health side of addiction and what fuels the addiction. I also maintain a small private practice where I work with a lot of young adults on self-esteem issues, motivation, confidence, and goal-setting. My favorite thing as a therapist is to incorporate creativity into solving a problem, expressing yourself, or looking at a situation in a way that a client has never experienced.

Courtney has been amazing!!! Having the ability to bounce things to her and know she’ll respond in 24-32 hours has been so great for my anxiety. And having that validation and tools from her is awesome!

In a short time of corresponding with Courtney Boatman, I am very pleased with her level of support and constructive advice. I’ve asked her to be compassionate, direct, and to not pity my experience and she has done all of this. She quickly gained my trust by telling me about her work and where it would apply to my situations. She often ties in empathetic experiences, which makes me feel comfortable and connected to another human, something that would be easily lost through online communication. Over all, I’m very pleased, and excited to see where this direction takes me.
