About me

I am a Masters-level Licensed Professional Counselor. I primarily work with adults (using a Cognitive Behavioral counseling model) in the areas of anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, adjustment issues, and substance abuse. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. I work with individuals, families, and couples in therapeutic sessions. I also work with companies/agencies providing employee assistance services and training and/or team-building services. I work with a wide range of issues to include anxiety, balancing career/work and life, depression (mild to moderate), relationship issues, stress, substance abuse, transitional issues (i.e. returning vets/their spouses, relocation), traumatic experiences, and women's issues. I am LGBTQ+ allied/affirmed.

Courtney has been through quite the journey with me since we met earlier in 2021. My items and responses keep changing due to the transitions I have been dealing with. Courtney remains fluid in her understanding of where I am in the process. She hears me; sometimes before I hear myself.

She has given me coping tools I didn't know I needed. Very responsive and kind.

One of my biggest fears and anxieties with getting a counselor was talking to one who felt robotic. I wanted someone personal, and Courtney is exactly that. She's also good about checking in with her clients every couple of days, and that has helped me feel cared about. All in all, she's a good counselor to talk to.

Courtney is kind, warm, and a friendly face to see at every session. She listens, empathizes, and validates my thoughts and feelings. She gently corrects harsh or negative thoughts I have toward myself and provides helpful insight and coping skills. She is easy to talk to and expresses genuine concern and care for me.
