Craig Long, LPC
About me
Welcome and thank you for taking a very important step in trying to make things better in your life. My name is Craig and I am a licensed professional counselor. I have had over 14 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including residential, outpatient, crisis and disaster counseling. That being said I have had experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, and complex trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with depression, grief, Anger management and self esteem.
It was my many career choices in my early years that lead me to become a counselor. I have always been a good listener and always wanting to help others. I have had my fair share of experiences that shaped me into the person i am today including relationship struggles, and substance use by family members.
I use a person-centered, multicultural, and integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and focus on what you need and will shape the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, Trauma Focused, mindfulness, and Logotherapy.
I would describe my style as welcoming, non judgmental and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Therapy works best when the client is willing to grow, explore, stretch and be willing to work on and take steps for you to help overcome your current problems. I look forward to helping you in any way I can!
