About Me
I earned a M.S.W. from Boston University in 1991, and I am licensed as an independent practitioner in both California and Massachusetts. I have extensive professional, volunteer, and life experience in treating the mental health needs or individuals and families across a wide variety of settings, including schools, outpatient clinics, developmental services, healthcare, and private practice. My special areas of focus include anxiety and depression, parenting issues, family systems, trauma, developmental issues, medically involved children, and aging.
My approach to therapy is that it is a collaborative process, of which you are the driver. I combine evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic theory, family systems approach, psycho-education, and relaxation practice to tailor the treatment to best meet your needs.
I firmly believe in the power of connection and knowledge to weather and overcome life's inevitable challenges. I am committed to drawing from my education, professional training, and experiences to partner with you in fostering happiness and fulfillment. You don't have to go it alone!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Cynthia Edgerly. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Cynthia Edgerly has been my therapist for over a year, and she has always behaved in a professional, compassionate, and non-judgmental manner. She has effectively supported me as I worked through generalized anxiety in my day to day, as well as sexual trauma from my past. Additionally, Cynthia has guided me in building a healthier and more balanced life by helping me set boundaries on my professional life, as well as teaching me how to integrate self-care techniques into my life, such as yoga and meditation. Lastly, Cynthia has helped me identify and begin to reverse my negative self-talk, while also pushing me to strengthen my relationships with my loved ones by being more vulnerable with them. I am lucky to have worked with Cynthia, and fully recommend her to potential future clients.
Cynthia is incredibly helpful and supportive. I’m extremely grateful to be working with her.
Great!
