My approach is empathetic, compassionate, non-judgemental curiosity with the belief that with the right questions we can begin to discover the beliefs that effects your thoughts and actions and uncover your internal guidance that will give you the pathway in creating the life you desire.
Specifically, I have worked in a variety of venues including community mental health organizations, hospitals, schools and private practice, with individuals, children, families and groups. My graduate education is in Clinical Marriage and Family/ Art Therapy program from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. The program was based in traditional psychodynamic and family systems theory. Special skills and focus have been Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Anxiety/Depression, Trauma, Woman's Issues, Parenting, Addictions, Spirituality (Mindfulness/Meditation, Spiritual Counseling and Affirmative prayer), Chronic Illness, LGBTQ, Movement and Art Therapy.
My Motto: Healer heal thyself
My own journey of deep self-exploration and inquiry from a young age added to 20+ years experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist has allowed for some mastery of this thing called life. Of course, the journey is never ending, with ample opportunity to grow through the challenges life presents. It is my passion and honor to work with others on their own unique life journey, through the challenging times of transition or stagnation that can create stress, anxiety, depression, crisis or trauma.
I am grateful to have returned to Colorado ( the place of my birth) after 30 years of living in California, to be close again with my now elderly parents, brother and sister-in-law. I live with my 11 year old daughter, close to my family in the mountains. I especially enjoy the fresh mountain air as I walk my dog or ride my bike. I breath deep and count my blessings. I have healed chronic illness in my body. I have grown through many relationships. I have manifested some miracles and continue to be in awe of life and the mysteries it holds.
It takes courage to reach out for help when you need it. I applaud your ability to take care of yourself in this way. I look forward to working with you.

I have participated in counseling with 3-4 therapists in the past, but this is my first experience with “virtual” or online counseling. I believe Cynthia Wiedemann has been the most helpful therapist I have seen. She provides specific feedback and suggestions and also remembers what we talked about in previous sessions. I feel like she’s firmly in my corner. I also appreciate the ease of using the BetterHelp app to schedule our weekly video sessions and message with Cynthia in between.
Cynthia is a true professional though out our seasons together, using compassion, empathy, a broad spectrum of respect and understanding has helped me reach a new level in my personal life and professional career. I highly recommend Cynthia for anyone needing help with any issues you're struggling with.
Over the last three months of dealing with a heavy breakup I’ve regained my strength to get out of bed and face my fears. I can’t thank Cynthia enough for handing me the tools and directions to dive deep within and love myself again. To such a beautiful human, I’ll always feel comfortable calling when my life hits a bump. To anyone who needs the tools, seeking counseling has been the biggest blessing in my life. I’m truly thankful.
Cynthia is fantastic! She has been a huge help over the past few months. I’ve recommended her and BetterHelp to everyone I know!
This counselor is amazing. I honestly do not think I would be in as good as shape now if not for her guidance and help. She cares and treats me like a person. She listens and follows up.
While having just had only a couple of sessions with Cynthia so far, I feel at ease with her manner and feel she listens and seems to understand from a deep level.
She is friendly and nice. She strongly takes care of her patients. She listens to me and tries to understand me. I recommend her.
Very friendly and nice. Understanding and a good listener who doesn't push any ideas on you and just gives some gentle guidance all while helping you to see things from a new perspective.
Cynthia has been an absolute joy to work with in helping me process life, heartbreaks, limiting beliefs, and anxiety. She meets me where I am at that day and I have never felt judged. I have written from my heart and had video calls with Cynthia and no matter what I always feel seen and heard. And she also challenges and pushes me towards helpful new thoughts and new habits that will allow me to live a life of my dreams and not stay stuck here! Her questions allow me to dive deeper and her compassionate energy and kindness make it a safe and welcoming place to dive in and grow! Thank you, Cynthia, for your time and talents. I'm grateful!
