Dallas Rabig

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Alabama. I also hold the National Counselor Certification (NCC) and Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor (IMH-E) credentials. I have been counseling for 10 years and specialize in early childhood trauma. I am also available for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation with parents of young children with challenging behaviors at home, in childcare, Pre-K, and Kindergarten.

I believe that life is all about relationships. When our relationships are healthy, our lives are healthy. However, sometimes relationships are ruptured leaving behind feelings of guilt and shame, grief and loss, or trauma. My role as a mental health therapist is to walk with you on your journey to repairing relationships, healing, and self-discovery. Often during the adolescent years there are more ruptures than repairs. This can be difficult to navigate as a parent and as a teenager. That's why it is so very important to learn how to recognize relational ruptures so you can work to repair the relationship before long term scars develop.

The first three years of life are the most important in a child’s social emotional development. The earliest relationships can promote healthy brain development and optimal growth when experienced in safe, stable, and nurturing environments. My primary specialty is working with parents who may be struggling with their own unresolved grief, loss, or trauma which may be getting in the way of developing a healthy attachment relationship with their children and build positive parenting skills to reduce challenging behaviors. Additionally, disordered attachment patterns in adults often lead to struggles in developing healthy adult relationships.

There are many ways to explore unresolved issues and improve relationships in all parts of our lives. I work from a humanistic and existential approach with the belief that everyone has the capacity for self-awareness and choice. From a psychodynamic and developmental perspective, I believe that holistically, relationships shape a person’s internal representation of themselves, thereby contributing to personality and temperament development.

For children birth to three years, I utilize infant-parent psychotherapy. For children three years to five years, I utilize child-parent psychotherapy and incorporate play. For children six years through adolescents I may incorporate many techniques such as directed or non-directed play, art, and group sessions from person-centered, gestalt, or dialectical behavior therapy. My primary approach will always be determined by the needs of the client.

I look forward to traveling this journey with you as we discover hope and healing together.

I have only had one session with Dallas so far, but I really like her already. She made me feel very safe and listened to. She was able to take in a lot of information from me very quickly and before we were done had given me optional next steps to take. I feel very confident that we will be a good match and be able to make good progress!

Ms. Rabig is an amazing counselor. Because of her, I'm finally getting the help I've needed for several years now. Our conversations are always very enlightening and I feel more confident and capable after each session. She is also very attentive and kind, and her advice is very sound.

Dallas is warm, approachable, extremely knowledgeable and I feel I can trust her with the contents of my life journey so far. I feel that she is non-judgmental and therefore I can be completely open and honest with her and do not feel I need to sugar-coat or hold back on the things that I need to express! I am extremely grateful that I was matched with Dallas and despite having various different counselling experiences over the years, I find her professionalism combined with her obvious empathy a refreshing change and finally a safe place to be heard!
