If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, social isolation, relationship issues, or just general life dissatisfaction, I can help you to get your life back on track. My online counseling approach is for anyone ready to make changes in their lives, but especially for those at a crossroads, facing a difficult challenge, or who have become frustrated realizing that past approaches no longer work.
I offer new ways for improving your resilience and reaching your goals using behavioral psychology, habit formation, and performance improvement. For some, this may involve exploring patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that get in the way, while others may benefit from a more solution-oriented approach that works to identify specific goals and how to reach them.
I graduated with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 1999. As a Licensed Professional Counselor I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing group and individual therapy. In 2014 I shifted my approach to a Positive Psychology and Wellness Model, after realizing the limitations of symptom/illness-based approaches used in most mental health facilities. Since that time I have expanded my training and practice, drawing from several disciplines such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Positive Psychology as well as Optimize Coaching and Recovery Coaching.

He is wonderful. I have been working with him for over a month now and love how he listens to me. Thank you Dan!
Dan is a great therapist! He truly listens to everything I have to say and gives the best advice. I had a terrible experience with my first therapist which made me weary about therapy but he made me feel very assured that therapy does help!
Dan has been extremely professional and helpful during a hard time in my life. I am working on self help and Dan has had great suggestions! Thanks for everything!
Kind and non-judgmental. Has practical advice and can usually talk me off the ledge lol.
Dan is insightful, thoughtful, and focuses on what's important to me and my mental health.
Working with Dan the last few months has been great, I look forward to our weekly discussions. At first I had difficulty finding a therapist who was responsive and genuinely seemed interested in helping and was close to giving up. So starting off with Dan I was very skeptical and reserved but he did not take it personally and was approachable and professional. He's helped with issues I've had for years and not only taught me how to deal with them but to improve them. I do not give a recommendation lightly but I wholeheartedly 100% recommend Mr Kimball. Instead of telling me an answer he ask questions to help me arrive to it on my own. He truly goes the extra mile to show he truly wants to help and genuinely cares. After a decade of depression and anxiety to even feel like I can believe in myself and like being me is something I thought not possible. I'm forever grateful.
Feel comfortable talking with Dan.
He is very kind and treated me with the upmost respect for that I am grateful.
Dan is seriously the best therapist I’ve ever had. Every single session I come away with a better understanding of myself and my motivations, and he always suggests something actionable I can do to help me make progress in overcoming my depression and anxiety. He’s vested in my recovery and I trust him completely.
Dan is an incredibly compassionate, skillful, wise, and gifted therapist. He helped me heal through a break-up. I am very grateful for him!
Even just knowing that compassionate and patient Dan is on the other side of the screen and is there for me to talk to about whatever I need to get off my chest, has already started to help me feel a little more alive and free with my thoughts. Thank you, Dan, and thank you BetterHelp!
Dr. Dan has been an amazing support in my life!

Good approach to customer. Listens and responds pretty quick so one can decide what needs to be done next from his suggestions.
I was very lucky to find a therapist such as Dan Kimball. I don't really know what I was expecting going into therapy. However, Dan has helped me in ways I didn't know I needed. His knowledge, guidance and approach to the way of living is something I connect with the most. He has helped me with my overall confidence and has helped me to trust myself. I would absolutely recommend Dan Kimball.
Absolutely amazing! Truly values and takes the time to break down each and every thing. You will always be heard with Dan!

I'm very happy to say I have worked with Dan on this platform. Although I was only with Dan for a month before I had to leave for financial reasons. In that short time, Dan was successful in guiding me to identify problems and create strategies to face them. His expertise and sincerity make him an excellent counselor for anyone in need of help.
He is very respectful and helpful and gives creative insight into what I am working on and through.
Dan is a fantastic person. Dan since day 1 has helped me tremendously. He listens, observes everything I say and do, all the way down to my interview responses on website articles! Word for word. I highly recommend Dan.
Dan brings a confidence and energy that helps you feel at ease and able to disclose things that can be uncomfortable. He makes you feel safe and good about where you are at as well as pointing out specifics to bring about the desired result.
He listens to me and asks me questions. He answers me in a timely manner, and when I say I had a bad day, he asks why and then tries to help me get through it.
Although, It's only been a little over a week now, Dan Kimball has helped me tremendously and I know will continue to help me as we go along, he is very professional, understanding, has a compassionate nature and is non judgmental and always has a quick response time and I'm grateful that betterhelp matched us up.
Dan has been incredibly helpful since he first reached out, always responds and offers other ways to communicate besides chat. Dan 100% has understood what I needed help with and has opened my eyes with all the knowledge he’s offered. I’ve been very thankful for having Dan as a counselor and i highly recommend him!
Dan is amazing!!! He is very kind and a great listener but also very empowering.
After 2 months of working with him I have a whole new level of skills and understanding of controlling my anxiety and thoughts. He is very communicative and supportive! Thank you Dan!
He’s been great & is there for me almost everyday. The small check ins and advice have gone a long way for me. He has had me do activities and worksheets that make me feel good & better overall. I have been with him for almost a month and it’s made a impact on me positively.
Dan is fantastic!
Helpful on multiple levels. I am very grateful that he has been able to help me on multiple levels. Emotionally, systematically, mindfully, physically....
Dan is the man. He reaches out when I neglect writing him. He shows compassion and concern.
Dan has been awesome. He's very responsive and I feel like he understands my situation. He helps me look at things from a different perspective and gives me tools to overcome my challenges. Just knowing that someone cares is huge, but he goes above and beyond that and keeps me focused on the future as well as on the steps I need to take to get there.
Dan is great. He responds quickly, and asks good questions to identify the problem.
Dan has been helping me through some of my toughest times to get a better understanding of my core issues and I feel great talking with him. Hope things turn around for me but I am getting a better outlook thanks to Dan.

Dan has been great at checking in on me and responding quickly. I would highly recommend him!
I've been work with Dan for a couple weeks and I have a lot of great things to say about him, but the two things that really stand out about him compared to other counselors: 1. He responds very quickly. 2. He refers me to existing resources that are relevant to my issues. (Thanks again Dan!)
Dan is very positive and supportive, and it's clear that he cares about the people he's helping. He's also very oriented towards results, and knows how to get them rather well.
I was only with Dan for a short time before I had to leave for financial reasons. In that short time, Dan was immediately responsive and seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being and progress. I know he will be an excellent counselor for those in need.
Dan has been a great coach! I can highly recommend him for guidance in the area of effective and healthy communication. He has been helping me navigate my relationship with my teen niece. He helped me see that her behaviors are passive-aggressive and coached me to model assertive behavior. He's been a tether to expert knowing. He is a great listener. I feel lucky and blessed that BetterHelp.com paired me with a counselor that is perfect for my needs. Dan has helped make a potentially difficult relationship more hopeful and based in reality rather than based in fear of not knowing what to do with a defiant teen. I'm so glad I did this.
Dan was helpful and thoughtful during our first conversation.
I am so happy I was matched with Dan. He is really helping me and is there when I need him. He's just a really good guy. I highly recommend Dan.
Dan is great and has a wide variety of knowledge in many different areas. He knows the best ways to communicate on the site through messages in video or audio.
