About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Austin, TX with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I have previously worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor which provided me with the opportunity to work with individuals diagnosed with a wide variety of both physical and mental health disabilities. I also facilitated an anger management group and conducted both individual and couples counseling at my private mental health practice. I specialize in working with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, grief, substance use, and trauma.

My therapy style is warm, informal and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion. My therapeutic approaches vary depending on the individual and the issues being address. However, I tend to mostly utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy.

If you’re feeling a little lost, emotionally exerted, or even overwhelmed by daily tasks, you are not alone. What you feel has value and meaning. Therapy can provide a space of nonjudgement, openness, and encouragement where we can foster growth and promote healing. We can create a deeper understanding of the thoughts, behaviors, and actions preventing you from experiencing the life that you want. I believe in the change that can occur when in a supportive therapeutic relationship and I look forward to doing this work together with you.

Dana makes me feel understood and helps me clear my mind

Dr. Flynn is awesome. She’s warm, approachable, and a great listener. She never makes you feel embarrassed or ashamed to share anything, no matter how personal . You can tell she cares deeply about the well-being of her patients, and she shows this by always going the extra mile. She also has a slightly quirky/not overly serious side to her that makes it even easier to relate and open up to her! I would highly recommend Dr. Flynn and BetterHelp to anyone looking to heal, grow, or forgive.

She’s very receptive and works well with my needs. She offers suggestions that might be out of my comfort zone.
