About me

Hello, my name is Dana and I’ve been working with clients for more than 10 years. I have 3 main focuses in my work, the first is working folks who have experienced trauma, the second is working with LGBTQ+ clients, and the third is working with folks (or family members of folks) that are unhappy with their alcohol or drug use.

Are there tough life experiences that you struggle to move past? Or patterns that you don't like but find yourself repeating? Trauma isn't limited to extreme situations like military deployment, being in a cult, or experiencing a robbery - it also includes common experiences like unhealthy relationships, losing someone important to you, bullying, divorce, medical events, abuse and more. Therapy cannot change the past but it can change how it affects our present. There are many ways to heal from painful experiences and we can work together to find you relief.

Are you unhappy with your drinking or drug use but too embarrassed or ashamed to talk to someone about it? Do you worry about how your drinking or drug use is impacting you? Are you afraid that if you do talk about it someone will tell you that you are an addict or have to stop drinking or using completely? Together, you and I will sort out what’s making it hard to cut back or quit. There are many ways to be satisfied with how much you’re drinking and using or not doing it at all. I will work with you and help you find a way forward without lecturing or judgement. We can figure this out together.

Are you queer, bi, trans, gay or a person that otherwise falls under the rainbow umbrella? Are you struggling with how to come out to others, have healthy romantic or sexual relationships, or build supportive friendships? Do people in your life judge you or not understand your gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression? Are you just trying to figure out what all these words even mean? Judgement from the people around us can feel crushing, and I don’t want you to suffer from that anymore. Therapy can provide tools to increase your confidence and build the kind of relationships you want to take your life back. I get what’s happening and we can work together to make things better.

Dana provided a welcoming space where I took the lead and decided when and what to work on; no pressure. Her techniques that we used in session were pivotal in my healing journey. She also gave me the freedom from stigmas and judgement about getting help. Dana, thank you for all of your help! You are a great counselor!

I have had several therapists in the past, but I have never felt as comfortable as I do with Dana. She is thoughtful in her responses and suggestions. She is also flexible and offers multiple ways to communicate. She is always mindful of my comfort level. I am so thankful to have found her.

Dana is great at listening to my LONG diatribes and picking out the most important pieces that I need to be listening to.
I am often overwhelmed by the speed at which my brain seems to jump around and change course. It is hugely helpful and comforting to know that I have someone who can distill it down for me and help me figure out what the truths are that are hiding in all the chaos.
